Re: GC2 vs GC3. I didn't play GC2 until TOA and any final patches had been out for a while. GC2 is a well polished and complete game and I read the many threads about it here so I could tell that it took quite a while and took lots of feedback to get it to be that good. I have the same hopes for GC3, but am not expecting as much as I'd hoped for based on what I've seen so far. One disappointment (yes this is a rant) was the last DLC. (Precursor stuff). Honestly, I

As an elite founder it pains me to say that the rants in this thread are valid. I had hopes that this game, by now would've approached its potential to be even better than the great GalCiv2 TOA is, but sadly there's a long way to go. The UI in this game needs to be lots better and TOA's UI clearly is better. I could write all day about things to improve this game but will try to keep this post from being too long. I will note that it is ambitious and difficult to try to ba
The Precursor DLC is a fun idea, but some things very much need to be tweaked. Two tweaks are easy. 1) Anomalies and way too good. Add a /2 to the formula to halve everything they give. This would be a good way to start. 2) Penalties for planets are too great. These worlds need too many farms early on. I'd say get rid of one penalty and halve the other. 3) This is more difficult to implement but the AI's need to also go after these anomalies.
"If you are defeated by an anomaly's defenders you can now try again with a different fleet." Good catch devs! I was going to make a thread about this, but you've fixed it already. This is kind of quick support needed and appreciated!

OK I tested this using 1.5 and it works just fine although no where from any tool tips or mouse overs is it shown to apply. My HW's shipyard production went up greatly. I miss typed my earlier post which should read "it is a complete doubling of shipyard production since that 100% is applied to the baseline and isn't cumulative."
OK I did well in the colony rush (Not always easy playing large with all 8 current AI opps) and there was a +20 mega event choice so rather quickly I have my Death Furnace on Drengi. Indeed it is working properly and giving me more than +50% Raw Prod and when I mouse over RP is states that. Ruthless also caused a large boost in Drengi's shipyard production but no where can I find a tool tip stating that. Unforgiving may need a buff as by the time you get it,
I agree on three counts. 1) I also didn't get this -10% mass reduction. 2) There still remain too many of these little bugs. 3) These things and some new bugs that seem to creep in prevent this game from being as good as it should be. Lets hope some of these are addressed before 1.5 patch goes live!
OK now I recall that my Drengin game was 1.41. The tool tip did give me the +50% RP. Perhaps someone fat fingered some code for 1.5? Anyhow, I suggest saving your game and then deleting your Furnace and checking to see if actually production is down.
1.41 made a step in the right direction towards clearly improving this game. However, there's lots more to be done and some can be addressed in 1.5. I'll not mention diplo as many have. 1.41 made good steps toward getting the AI to better building up their planets but there's still MORE needed. The AI still seems to have NO idea about properly using the bonus squares on a planet. I'd not think this too hard to fix. Another issue is that the AI s
I can't recall if the last time I played Drengi (always Mal with them) was with 1.41 or 1.5 opt. But I am certain that I got a nice boost in production from my HW after building my Death Furnace. I have a Drengin game going now with 1.5 but it will be a while b4 I have enough Ideology points to check. Note that the culling project never worked and that if I read correctly devs intended to remove it from the game. This means that the final choice of Unforgiving is quite wea
I can't recall if the last time I played Drengi (always Mal with them) was with 1.41 or 1.5 opt. But I am certain that I got a nice boost in shipyard production from my HW after getting the 100% tech. It was a doubling since that 100% is applied to the baseline and isn't cumulative. I agree that it does often cost very much to upgrade ships. Perhaps the devs could take another look at the formulas for this? Or perhaps this has been deeply considered and upgrades are prices fairly?
Korath spores in GC2 were very OP. It was too easy to rush research spore modules and sit here enemy homeworlds with colony ships and then upgrade them to spore ships and catch the enemy unaware and soon have a couple new HW's greatly adding to your starting power and also your influence while crippling the AIs you attacked. I hope to not see spore modules in GC3.
I usually play Gifted in Large Galaxies with all 9 standard races (choosing one for myself) and Drengins almost always are doing quite well and are often the dominant AI unless I go after them or bribe AI's to do so.
I have yet to see mine. Don't be let down if it doesn't have good planets, we weren't promised that and of course its solar system should be random like other stars.
Again, I will stress that Stardock has a chance to please all users of this fun game by making the wheel user selectable at the start of the game.
Such heated discussion concerning the wheel and such a love/hate relationship towards it. To me the issue is simple, the game MUST include a user selectable option to either have it back as in 1.3 or have it gone as in 1.4.
Thx will try it tonight as was gonna ask the same thing, today!
I am quite happy with all changes to the patch except this one, and had no problem micro'ing a bunch of planetary wheels in the past and am unhappy to see it removed.
Yes, very nice email and nice to know as an Elite that when I get home from work in about 100 minutes these updates have auto installed and I can play.
I'll just say, please don't.
Whatever can be done to reduce late game micro somewhat would be appreciated by many and especially those playing in really large galaxies. An option to turn off the idiocy that is AI surrender is a must. In GalCiv2 ground troops stole a tech. I don't see that happening in 3 and miss it. When I launch Civ5 it takes about a minute or a bit more to launch and I will see a different scene on my screen from about 10 different scenes. Music also plays. But
Yes, please please add this!!
