Of course it is a balance issue, which is why I am mentioning it now, prior to release! Considering that one can typically sell a resource for almost 500, I effectively paid almost 4700 for my Merc! This ship is weaker offensive and defensively than the medium ships I am making with 5 harp missiles and 3 pd and some slight enhancements. For this price and for the prices of almost every Merc, I strongly believe that a somewhat better ship should be had. I'm concerned with losing th

Good to hear that you've fixed this! Now please fix the new bug that the Eager trait in Malevolent no longer provides any moral bonus! (Yes, I sound like a broken record requesting this bug repair) thx .. neilkaz ..

OK I bought my first Merc. It was the rather weak ship that costs 2700 + 3 Antimatter +1 Elerium! I wanted to see whether the +5 Malevolent points attribute when you win a battle works and it does. It is stacked with a big fleet and hopefully will survive more battles to come. At the start of the game, I debated whether to spend 750 for the ship that adds +5 raw production to the planet it is at, but decided against it as I am using the Thalan tech tree and wanted to buy several

I'll chime in after more than several hours playing. I am playing on a large map with my custom race vs 7 random Incredible AI's. I chose malevolent and don't play passively. 1) I've posted in another thread the the Mal. trait Eager no longer works. You no longer get a moral boost of 1 per planet conquered after choosing this trait. This should be an easy fix. 2) I've read that the number of precursor planets has been halved. I'd say that's about ri

I will stress that Eager is bugged now in 1.6 Merc beta. I took another Terran planet and again I get no moral benefits. Eager trait is one of the reasons I like to play Malevolent since after taking a few planets from enemies, most if not all of your moral issues are gone. I do hope that the dev's can check the code here and provide a quick hot fix to this beta. ,, thx .. neilkaz ..

I wish to thank Brad and team for letting us Elite Founders have early access to the beta. I am glad to see many of us commenting and advising and catching bugs. This will only insure that upon release of 1.6 and X-pack, that we have a better game to play. Previously, the moral gains from Eager was +1 moral per planet conquered, although this wasn't clearly specified. Now, however, there is nothing spec'd when clicking on a planet's moral and NO BENEFIT!! It is gre

A question here. Many of these Merc ships seem to require resources. Can you hire and use them without the resource? I assume not, but have to ask.

Looking forward to it and happy to help as I can. Of course for me, the most desired thing is a UI requiring fewer clicks. Hot keys to build things on my planets would speed things up nicely.

Won't DOWing Minors also help to increase war monger negatives towards you? That being said, if you need those planets and it fits your game plan go take them but be prepared for a pissed off Thalan as now you'll be sharing borders as well.

OK, the Thalan tech tree is very nice, but I caution against the over-nerf. Tech trees and races need to be different to make this game interesting and fun. Hives give +4 Raw Production and +1 bonus to adjacent tiles. Is that OP? Well it is nice as it can come so early in the game. Perhaps they need to require longer to build and be more expensive to buy?

I don't mind the PC planets since most have food and pop penalties so you need early farm techs. There may be a few too many PC planets now. The problem with making them all extreme is that is a late age tech. I play on large and with all 9 AI. (ie I take a stock AI, and the other 8 stock AI are in the game) so there's often not too many planets to grab so I'd not want to wait so long to colonize a PC world. Waiting for some is OK but not all.

OK that large galaxy had only 2 PC Anomalies. This seems to be too few. I found a selection criteria when launching the game to enable one to selected to increase the amount of them. But so after selecting,"Common" I still see almost no PC Anomalies. Next game I'll select "Abundant. It seems that these give you about half of what they gave before which is about right, I'd say.

My opinion is that Star Bases are fine just the way they are. They shouldn't be mega fortresses. One can add many weapon and defensive enhancements to them. One great thing about GC3 compared to GC2 is that in GC2 the basic SB was defenseless and any tiny ship with a pop gun could destroy it before you added defenses. I do with the the AI's in GC3 would use a couple constructors to beef up important SB's, however.

It sounds like you're too good for this game! Hopefully you can help out others here with some strategy advice and insightful posts. I'm curious as to what level of difficulty, galaxy size, and number of opponents you play on? Thx .. neilkaz ..

To me, the improved growth rate has clearly improved the game. Now it is also possible to put a decent number of people onto your colony ships when making many during the colony rush. Great improvement. TYVM Stardock.

I hope this is just random and that they didn't overnerf the occurrence of PC Artifacts as I had to explore more than half a large galaxy to find ONE ! Previously there'd be about 10-12 in a large galaxy. That was clearly too many unless the AI's could also be taught to go after them. It will be quite a few turns til I know how good this arti is as most of my ships can't yet reach it.

Frogboy, I wasn't shitting on you when I stated that I paid 100 bucks to effectively be a beta tester. Sit down this weekend and play a game or two and you'll see what I mean and what others mean in these threads. There's too many clicks required in the UI to do basic things. Again I will stress hotkeys for basic things. Lets say I want to build a factory or equiv. building. I click in the tile with my mouse and then hit the hotkey and done. Easier than now. If I want to buy it, I
