I got on Discord this weekend for another game. Easy to set up. You don't need a headset but it helps. [e digicons][/e]

I agree. I haven't run into the Support thing, but it is constantly re-designating my Escort upgrades as Capital, and my medium assault ships as Capital, even though they're half engine. Have they fixed the one where the combat viewer lines up the Support ships in front of the Capitals? (Yeah, I know it's only visual, but it's irritating.)
Ah, good point. Not the only example of egregious lack of due information.
AFAIK, the true cause of low-pop AIs isn't yet known. I think that the production bonuses of high-difficulty games is making the true state difficult to see. (Has anyone dissected Normal games?) Until the true cause is understood, a mod fix is a crapshoot.
1) A problem with Malwarebytes, not with GC. Can't you tell it to leave the Galciv directory alone? 2) I don't really understand, but I think the answer is the same as 1). 3) That's the way it's designed. It is not a bug. Get used to it. FWIW, some "malware" hunters try to kill anything they see as executables or system configuration files, particularly if your file association link them to an executable that is dangerous to the system.
Ah, never mind. To use Steam you have to create a new WG account. WG says that if you currently play, keep using your client or you'll have to start over.
BTW, World of Warships has come to Steam. Still an 'Early Access' client until Nov. 15, but also still free (or so I hear). Getting a reliable 38 fps at 1920x1200 on Low with this RAM upgrade. Good enough.
koopatroopa, go back to the pre-2.5 game. Win that on Godlike and then you'll have something to brag about. To do so is a simple checkbox on Steam.
Amen and Amen.
I do have an external SATA II port that isn't in use. No USB 3 on this MB. I turned off Windows Update when they pumped out that evil KB971033 patch, Just when you're willing to believe that MS has turned away from the dark side, they go and do something that proves that a Sith Lord rules in Redmond. Thanks for the tips. I may ask you some questions as I gather the loot for this upgrade. SSDs of all stripes seem to have a floor just below $100. &n
What was the planet in Avatar that had Unobtainium on it? Yeah, that one.
I've currently got two system drives: C: which has Vista and bootmgr on it, and E: which has Win7 on it. I almost never use Vista but I can't take C: off line because E: won't boot on its own. So a general reorg is called for. And then there's question about where the page file should reside. But I'm sure that there are online tutorials about all this.
As was last night's guest star. I missed part. Will have to go find it on YT. I still can't get over the "tiny little girl" security chief.
SSD: There are some packaged as "expansion cards" that plug right into a PCIe connector. I gots three unused. Hmm. No gots 3.5" bays or trays, though maybe I could do surgery on the fan controller sitting in one floppy bay - it's only about an inch deep. I wonder if there's an adapter that will let me mount multiple SSDs in a 5.25" bay... gots three of them free too. So what do you do with a SSD? Configure it as a HD a
Thanks for the pointers. Yes the MB will take 4GB sticks. From memoryX: 2GB $16 ea. 4GB $90 ea. ! One problem, I don't have a 2.5" drive bay...
Sorry, Purdypog, we disagree entirely. You seem to think that SD owes you something because you bought some of their games. No, they don't. You already got what you paid for. Say, wasn't there a Parable about the workers coming late to the vineyard getting paid the same amount as the all-day workers? You should read it sometime.
I'll watch. You're playing with features I've never seen.
The second 4GB cost $14, delivered. The first 4GB were hot OC-able sticks that are out of production but could be matched .. for $60. To go to 16 GB I'd have to buy 4 new sticks, and check that the mb even supports them. Next investment will have to be either a decent video card or a SSD. Neither required for GC3, but I'd like to play WoWs at high res and fps. I did try starting a new game at Insane. Not a problem, though I bet it can get pretty busy ov
I bumped up from 4GB to 8GB yesterday. Nice! It's not so much that GCIII runs faster (doubtful). It's that the whole system accommodates GCIII much more easily. I can actually run Firefox at the same time! And switch to the desktop without praying to St. Jude. Watching the Perfomance Monitor, GCIII takes 6GB all by its own self. Load a game and it takes another 0.7GB - less than I imagined. Happy now.
Totally agree! What SD charges for their games and for additional features is small compared to the value. (And this from a guy that can barely afford any of them.) The thing is, we seem to be raising a generation that believes everything available on the 'net should be free. They stoopid. They working for a world where nothing of value will be available on the 'net.
"+5% to all weapons on all our ships" I think he's suggesting that "+5% to each weapon on all our ships" is more correct. Numerically, they're identical. IMO not a typo.
Yeah, I kinda suspected. Has there been an announcement?
Anyone, on the Alt defenders?
Is there a way to upload an image, or does it have to be hosted somewhere and linked?
Still on Milky Way scenario, turn 460+ trying mightily for a Influence win. The Altarians, righteous prigs that they are, declared war on me. I have 5 times their power so it didn't last long. But I observed something mysterious. I'd kill the shipyard, clean out orbit, then a turn or two later I'd bring in a transport yet couldn't invade because there were three new defenders in orbit. Now, this isn't the Pragmatic "three defenders for ev
