How did you ally with them?
The Altarians are very sensitive to your Ideology. If you're not Benevolent, it will take some work. Trade with them ASAP, which will help your diplomatic status. Trade techs whenever you can. If in mid-game and you're still not buddies, try to set up a war between them and the Iridians. They'll beat on each other for the rest of eternity. In ship resear

In general, the use of wings and aerodynamic devices on starships annoys me. Tiny and perhaps small it's okay as it is plausible that they are atmosphere capable. I've not played Slyne before but I like AI races. I'll check them out. Your color combo is inspired.

I like the aesthetic of your new design. Riddle me, though. For many reasons, the sphere seems to be the optimal general form. But I don't think I've seen anyone use it. Does the toolset not support it well?
Immersion. The nature of space is not a hop skip and jump the the next neighborhood. The distances involved are so profound that they should affect a simulation. If they don't, it's hard to believe you're in space.
Actually the impassable objects do create bigger problem for pathfinding than amount of tiles.
Depends greatly on the algorithm you use. I have one that uses a straight-line solution as a check to prevent wandering off and wasting cycles on a general solution. Of course, the larger the potential solution set, the more expensive the solution, so tile proliferation could be a problem. IME impassible obj
Yep as we thought, choke points. Well I wish you well on that project. (I will not be seeing it).
Hypergates are choke points, but apparently Jump drives bypass them, at the cost of slower hyperspace movement. So at higher techs there are no choke points. At least, that's how I'm reading Frogboy. I wonder how that affects Trading ?

But I've been doing campaigns and tutorials, so maybe it will in the main game. (soon. I've been playing World of Warships again.) Oops. You're right! It's just . I've gotte
How would you guys feel about turn based combat though?
Ooo. That's a big topic. Combat could get very complex very quickly - especially from the implementation side. The biggest issue, of course, is "What happens between turns?" Does a side get to move? Run away? Bring up reinforcements? What's a turn - a combat round or another week? Right now I'd be happy if SD

Regarding the Diplomacy wheel. Whatever happened to the tilt-a-wheel? I though that was pretty cool, and you could see the lines that are hidden in the current display. (The way I see it now the lines behind me to the opponent directly behind me are nidden by my portrait.) Figured it out. Old-Spider, how is it that you have that many opponents? Are you able to show Minors in Diplomacy? &nbs

There's another one in an end tech were "existence" is spelled "existance". And I've seen at least one other. Can't open the game now to check.
I think the new gameplay styles can be made into an option (scorched earth and FOW in territory).
I wouldn't mind seeing the various options mixed. Roll for the fate of each world. I can definitely see e.g. Korath with a high % of scorched planets. A Pragmatic race would tend to leave their worlds intact, pouting for 20 turns. Maybe Benevolents would tend more to go back to nature.<
Good point. I'm not sure what the differences are between a non-aggression pact and an alliance (other than tech requirements and relationship strength).
The game won't let you attack during the period of the Pact. An Alliance can be broken at any time. Much of what you suggest already existed at one time. Still, the other races will take note of how you treated an ally or whether you broke a

Re: The Cosmic Surrender Death It just occurred to me that contrary to the justification of "ameliorating late game micromanagement", enemies don't surrender to invaders if their empires are largely intact. They surrender (or should) when they have few colonies left. I don't like this mechanic. I do like making it less likely that a civ will surrender to it's nearest ideological peer at the drop of a hat. But I don't see how this mechanic changes that.<
Scenarios seem to be set up so that the AI will act a certain way no matter what.
What Scenario? Milky Way is a campaign game. The AIs are not pre-programmed beyond their racial characteristics. There is certainly no reluctance to declare war, just an amazing ineptitude at conducting it.

It absolutely mashes the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, and creeps up on the RTX 2060 Super surprisingly often. O

Here's a trick for tracking down where names are used and defined. Use Notepad++ editor. It has a Search Files function with name and location filters. (Other good editors have similar.) So for your example, search ' BasicFactory_Name ' in *.xml files in the /data subdirectory. I will list occurrences of the string and the definition should be easy to find. Good luck.
