Some of the DLC doesn't work properly with the new mechanics (e.g. precursor "pop limit" modifications). Some gameplay related to race-type mechanics is.. questionable at best, broken at worst (e.g. synthetics taking over an organic planet insta-convert all those organics to synthetic -- a HUGE boost considering how expensive it is for synthetics to make pop. Even more amusing, when organics take over a synthetic world the robots start having babies...)</p

It is also the 3rd "Most popular" on GOG (my personal platform of choice), behind only the Bard's Tale IV and Pathfinder:Kingmaker. I don't know precisely how GOG measures "popular" but it sure didn't take long to make the top 5. My gaming budget is zero at the moment but it's gone on my wishlist. Congrats on the GA to Brad and the rest of the team! Initial reports are that it is fun and polished. :)

It has been a rough ride and there are still a lot of inconsistencies with new systems that are going to take a while to get hammered out. But hammered out they will be, unless Brad is struck by a bus or falling anvil. What form that takes (continuing refinement of GalCiv3 or GalCiv4 "done right" from the beginning) is anybody's guess. As an aside, I recently re-installed Civ:BERT (gasp, if you must), and to my pleasant surprise the heavily
I find improvements being indestructible is one of the stupidest things ever. Fortunately, if you are so inclined, you can easily fix this yourself with an XML editor. Just open ImprovementDefs.xml, find and replace true with false on the improvements that you want to be destructible, and problem solved.
Interesting.&nbs

Shamelessly reposted from the 3.04 thread: Can you please put in some code that destroys all (or all but 1) existing pop when a planet is conquered by an incompatible civ? I would define "compatible" as Carbon/Aquatic with Carbon/Aquatic. Synthetic only with Synthetic, and Silica only with Silica. Sadly, for those of us who enjoy MP, it does not seem to be a huge focus for StarDock (which I understand, even if it irks me). I'm still waiting to be able to play at all as the GOG MP is an even tinier subset and my support posts don't seem to be receiving any real attention (GOG MP is timing out during MP game load. No, I am not playing over a dial-up modem. :D )

Since I have yet to be able to play MP and my latest support post has gone a week unanswered (which to be fair is not a huge amount of time -- though it grates, MP is a "rarely used" play mode and GOG is a "rarely used" platform compared to single player Steam. Anyway, I digress), I decided to give single player a good test drive when the GOG folks finally released the 3.03 patch. So I rolled up a synthetic race. That was fun. The civ cr

I would very much like to be able to play Galciv3 multiplayer. However, it has never been stable enough to get through a single game. Yet I keep trying. Perhaps I am insane. Perhaps I enjoy taking over the galaxy with friends against a moderately clever AI. That is all.

Maybe it isn't in the XML, but I have a feeling it has to be programmed somewhere. Synthetics being stuck with the original pop the whole game would be crippling and show up instantly in any testcase.

Interesting perspective. I have to say, I've had much better luck -- but I make scouting/Promethion and better mining modules an absolute priority with any synthetic. Once you have 2nd level mining and you're getting 0.5 a turn (from just one mine!), that's a new pop every other turn. Early game that is limited mostly by production, not resource scarcity. I would call for the opposite -- please don't get rid of the Promethion cost! It is the o

Consider yourself lucky -- the GOG version is still at 3.00 with no beta opt-in. This is hardly unusual for GOG, but its a bit frustrating sometimes. It can take GOG a while to update even if a developer gets them a patch the same day it is posted to steam, so you never know who to grump at for the delay. :)
In fact I am a bit disappointed. I don't understand why SD don't release the patches and fixes and balance changes to base game civs for players who have the base game. Each expansion and DLC multiplies the possible balancing, testing and error space somewhat exponentially. Even the

I wondered what all the fuss was about too -- I have Intrigue/Crusade and a good chunk of DLC, and the Yor have exactly one pop assembly. The rest, as you've described them, make no sense. The GC3 balance / tech trees have been in pretty good flux for a while -- Synthetic races in particular were all over the map for a while, as others have noted. I feel they've settled into a pretty good place, at least where the expansions are concer

The Yor don't seem to have market buildings -- at least, I didn't notice any in my first few stabs at playing the Yor. So I imagine this is working as intended and hopefully reasonably balanced. To answer the OP - I don't think so (it certainly doesn't feel OP), and I hope so. :)
