Please be very careful about such special affects, or with wishing for them. You may be very sorry if you get what you wish for, "Star Trek" and "Star Trek: Into Darkness" went so far overboard with the idea of light reflections and refractions that they made the movies a pain to watch.
I think that if you go back and watched any star trek movie (or show) with a half-critical eye - they would
runs just fine on the 2013 razer blade for me...
The same is true of violent movies. I haven't read the above study, but with movies the inverse relationship is somewhat tenuous IMHO. Basically with movies, this is measured by looking at violent crime rates on weekend when blockbuster violent movies come out - the theory being that the kinds of people who would be committing the crimes are all busy watching the movie instead. These studies do very little to inform policy about whether this is true over
Yes, and no... "productivity" is still a quotient denomonated by individuals in the labor force. You are right, that the productivity of individuals have increased largely due to technologies that augment labor, but fundamentally, labor from the population still takes place and thus is the basis of production. In a fantastical setting such as GC3 - your observation is likely correct that the concept of "population" itself is somewhat p
Wow, this whole post and ensuing conversation reminds me why I post so little in public forum anymore.. Back to the OP: it all reminds me of the strange nexus of voices back in the day trying to "ban" Marilyn Manson. People do not care much about reason or truth. It's simply about power and the imposition of power upon those who are less willing or able to fight back. There is very little regard for internal or external consistency; or adhere
Given the recent conversation of tech trading vs tech brokering. I was curious if there has been any consideration of "Tech Licensing"? By this I mean that I can "trade" or "broker" a tech on a short-term basis - either just maintain an ability to revoke the use of a tech that's been licensed, or allow the use of a tech in exchange of a resource/money per tern, or otherwise place conditions upon a tech use, etc? (Also, in this vein - wit
Did you fix the crash when an Iridium player tries to construct a starbase?
It's already like that. The XML can specify any labyrinthine prerequisites (as a flat text list of any combo of prerequisite tech levels and buildables). The tree-based UI just doesn't draw what's in the XML. ...
That's great, exactly the information I was curious about. I've played and
I might have missed it, but there was talk originally about technologies on the tech "tree" possibly requiring multiple prerequisite technologies - or at least the ability to mod them in. Is this still in the cards, does anyone know? -tid242
With the Iridium I can get it to happen in a new game on turn 2. (Rush build constructor then construct starbase... boom!)
2. I'd really like to see Espionage as more than an afterthought as it was in GC II.
Agreed, and in fact - the powers that be agree as well... It was announced that Espionage would be done as a separate expansion/DLC (it wasn't clear exactly which). So the good news is that it'll get a lot of love, while the bad news being that it won't ship in its full glory in the initial game re
Finally have a moment or 3 to get a bit into the beta - I'll edit/update this list as I find things.. 1) - Playing Iridium Corp. when meeting the Drengin they say "thanks for the hyperdrive" -- should this comment only be for the Terrans? 2) - On the planetary management screen - mousing over the "buy" button, the popup says "Requires XXX BC, Income XXX BC" ... it shouldn't say "income" rather it should say "available" or something similar. <p
However, I'm a bit worrying now that the "names your star" award, which is an EXCELLENT initiative IMHO, really, is going to give awkward results. One solution that I would prefer would be simply a UI toggle when you see a star name that bothers you that allows you to rename it (either from the random pool of star names

After starting a game and playing for a short while I have a couple of questions/comments on the UI Research UI - there are 2 screens for looking at research options, the default one and the tree. I'm curious what the point of the non-tree option is? It seems to make it really confusing as to where specific tech paths lead to and it doesn't help me decide what I should research next. Maybe I'm just used to the tree a la GC2 - but the tree s
