I like the grayed out tiles. It provides a very nice contrast to the entire map. Good job there Stardock. The colored sections really point your eyes to the important tiles. I wonder if a rectangle planet view would be a better, look. Since you are graying out and using green hex tiles to represent important tiles. Currently, the jagged outlines are providing a visual distraction. --- Just read the other replies, guess there are few that don't like the grayscale version of

I think this should be implemented by a particular race. It would be nice to see a devourer race, one that where you can choose to settle a planet, or destroy it for goods to your other planets. Send a colony ship or send a devourer to eat the planet reducing the class by 1 every 10 turns, your chosen planet a large bonus to production during the process. This will allow for a tall vs. wide empire.

I wouldn't mind seeing the ability to send a terraformer ship to one of these planets (Shake and Bake Colony) with a percentage chance of success. Something around 5% chance of successfully terraforming a dead planet. Building these terraformers shouldn't be cheap and you would fill these things up with colonists .5 billion, with the planned effect of them possibly dying on the planet. Brings a little gamble in the game. Once terraformed you can transport colonists to this newly creat

Both games are war games, but you do not have to win via conquest. aka The losing civilization is laid to ruin. AoW follows more this mentality than LH, so much so it makes AoW seem more like a War Game, where the main focus is on tactical combat and domination of the strategic map, vs. LH where you do not have to seek domination of the strategic map to win. You need to be powerful, yes... do you need to lay every civilization to ruin to win... no. (Does LH encourage you to lay ruin to every
I disagree. While LH has multiple win conditions, they are all a function/variant of the conquest victory. So, LH is really a war game too.
Of course they function like the conquest victory, but how does the Master Quest fit into that variant of the conquest victory? You don't even have to have contact with the other civilizations to win this way. Similar to the spell of making. I would claim co

Production wheel is a better format for controlling three inter-related sliders. It's been done before and it was just fine with that game (Sim Ant comes to mind). If you move to a 3 slider version you need a locking mechanism as you cannot control the direction of the other two sliders. The production wheel removes the absolute NEED for a locking mechanism. There do need to be some shortcut keys or some lines drawn on On the other thing about polls. Unless there is incent

Cataracts - waterfalls, ideal for dams, and hence hydro-electrical power, or other forms of production methods. A consistent source hence a bonus to manufacturing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cataracts_of_the_Nile PlanetFalls, I'm not sure what they are referring, but I can suspect it is something along the lines of like Niagara falls. Something beautiful to see. I also think these might be too large t

I do like the concept, but I'm not sure if this change would change the overall dynamic of GalCiv... in other words, would the game you describe above be GalCiv or a new game entirely. We don't want them to change too much of the character that makes Galactic Civilization - GalCiv. Do not get me wrong. I would love to see this concept realized in Galactic Civilization. Of course balancing this so there are a sufficient amount of colonizable planets close enough to any ch

Depending how they implement ship combat. They could use adjacent fleets to join in battle... they have been pretty mum on the subject (Begin engagement, send signal to nearby fleets for help, couple turns fighting have your adjacent fleets join the battle from hyperspace. It would look nice). So adjacent star-bases would yield a problem in this type of system. But the grand doughnut of shipyards.

I would call colonizing a planet equivalent to a deep scan of the planet. Your sending millions / billions of people to the planet, I'm sure they will find anything that was there.

I suppose there is no real reason to force the restriction. Depends on the mechanics on the shipyard. I suppose players might have fun building a wall of starbases / shipyards around their important planets.

I'd call it a bug... because it bugs me that the ship doesn't move into a guard mode or sentry mode. Something productive. I would even be happy that if the ship is put into those modes that the ship gets increased sensor range.

That would add a clever twist to the survey ship. It would be interesting that the survey ship explores what is thought to be a class 0 planet and finds a fledgling race of whatever on it. Or find a precursor ship or a special mineral. Or maybe a explosive device that explodes and destroys the planet and damages the survey-ship. I would also agree that it the survey ship should take a turn to explore said planets.

I would expect that if a shipyard is within 1-5 hexes of a planet that there will be no distance penalties from that planet. But if we start exceeding this distance, say around 6 - 10 hexes, a 10% penalty, 11-15 hexes a 25% penalty, 16-20 hexes 40% penalty, 21 - 30 hexes a 60% penalty, More than 31 hexes a 80% penalty. I think the goal of the shipyard is to provide building ships for star systems with no penalty. Once you leave the star-system, then we are talking about some penalties
Hi, as with the release of the Alpha several Lets plays / look at have sprung up on youtube. I was wondering wether those people actually are "Elite Founders" or did they get kind of a "Press access"?
I know a few of them are Elite Founders. I cannot say if any of the others have "Press Access". At this point I don't think the dev team would provide "Press Access" as the game is no where near complete and "Press Access" usually com

Good luck getting this to happen ;). I think the bug and fix list might be too cumbersome to be useful. Not to say that I wouldn't want to see one, but just saying they probably won't.

EvilMaxWar If you are that desperate, open up a second steam account / second stardock account purchase and elite founders edition again and name another star. I don't think they would mind if you did. Plus it is multiplayer and you can use it for friends and family that visit to play you. :) I would help out, but I already named my star... I was torn and wanted to name it after my daughters... but I have 2 and couldn't just choose one.

They said the Early Access Feedback in their posting. I posted in the support forum, because I ended up with no response in the feedback forum. I'm sure they will re-post or move things if it become too much for them. I would have chosen technical bug posts be in the support and feedback / general issues in the feedback forum. But I think support is more for you cannot get the game to run and need support :) I'm sure they will tell us which they prefer soon. edit: FE w
