I had similar issues with a different game, I know how annoying it can be. Unfortunately the cause/cure was specific to that game so it won't be any help here. I know they added some new camera options in Twilight of the Arnor. The reason I mention this is I think I remember seeing some options related to the new camera behavior in the game's options; look through there and see if changing those settings helps. It would also be a good idea to send this to <a href="

You might want to send an email to since these forums don't get too much traffic lately. By sending them an email you'll probably get a more timely response. In that email, include a link to your forum post.
OK, now you got my attention. Very impressive!
Also in GC2, you only pay for HALF the production increased via bonus.
I know what you're talking about, and it's happened to me as well, although I haven't seen it happen in the latest versions of Dark Avatar or ToA (yet) It's different from what you're talking about mumble, as it's never correlated to a specific ammount of X resource or time in game. Sometimes it happens very early, sometimes very late, and it doesn't happen every game. The only constant is that it occurs after loading a saved game. It's the graph displayed along th
Testing complete, and it works. When in control over the effected AI, you can colonize any planet (even class 0), and your own planet5s will slowly rise in quality.
So that is what the "Godlike" event does! Very interesting. I always thought it was bugged and was supposed to continually increase base stats over time.
I'd like to request the ability to Mod the Random Events. I can just imagine some of the crazy things the MOD community could come up with! I'm coming from a GalCiv2 background, and really wish moddable random/mega events could have made it into GalCiv2. I believe this makes my first post in the Elementals forums.
I'm pretty sure this can NOT happen to the player, and that that event is designed as one of the Game-Destabilizing events. I.e. like the "Mega-Events" introduced in Dark Avatar, to help prevent the game from becoming dull. But I would love to see such things be moddable, the possibilities are quite large, I can only imagine some of the great Random Event Mods players would come up with! Perhaps if we jumped into the Elementals forums and started asking for Random Events
It is Ctrl-Z. ... and Ctrl-Shift-Z is the code for a human to take over from one of the AIs, thus allowing a hot-seat multi-player game. Someone confirm and add Ctrl-Z to the Wiki Link
I added the Ctrl-Z to the Wiki page linked above.
I haven't played in a while, but this sounds familiar... If I understand correctly, GalCiv isn't giving you an error, it's not just doing anything after you press the turn button. If that's the case, it's most likely the result of a ship that's waiting for an order from you. Pressing the Tab key will take you to the ship that's wiating for your order and pressing the Space Bar will skip that ship and proceed with the turn. Keep in mind, it's possible to have hundr
For me, the quickest way to deal with registration problems has been to send an email to If you have Impulse installed, you can try launcing Impulse, then clicking on the "My Games" and see if Dread Lords is there. If it is and it's saying it's not registered or something, click on "Register product" near the top and fill out the info. If you run into problems doing the above, don't hesitate to shoot an email to the address I gav
The AI's you're trading with may have signigicantly altrered their tax rates the turn of the U.P. vote, which might also explain the drop. Hopefully someone else will chime in, as I've said it's been a long time since I've played and I'm scratching my head to try and remember all the things I used to have memorized. Hrmm, now that I think of it, they may have adjusted the trade values in the last couple of patches too.
Trade also fluctuates each turn depending on how far out each min-freighter is. It's further influenced by the popluation and/or income of the source and destination planets.
What is your treasury at each turn? I'm a bit rusty on the numbers, but I think if your treasury is above 100K you get decreased income from trade, and at 200K your tax income gets cut 50% and your trade income gets cut another 20% or something like that. (I used to have these numbers memorized, but it's been a while since I played) This was built into the game as "graft" - to represent the greedy politicians of your empire padding their wallets and funding their own pet

12 refers to the 'slot' occupied by custom races, and in the internal xml files... if I remember correctly, that is. There's a number of little nuances/mistakes like that in the metaverse. For example, you may have noticed it refers to the Altarians as Arceans and vice versa.

Skip towards end for the partial solution. Not long ago, I had LogonStudio Vista working enough to change my login screen. I recently had to rebuild my system and re-install Vista (I'm using Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1) and couldn't for the life of me remember how I got it to work the first time. Googling around didn't help other than to show other people are getting the same errors. I would launch Logon Studio from Impulse, select the "Orange Nebula" screen, t
There's understandable confusion. There are many versions: GalCiv1 (OS/2 version) 1994 GalCiv2 (OS/2 version) 1995 eventually followed by the following Windows versions: GalCiv1 2003 GalCiv1: Altarian Prophecy 2004? GalCiv2: Dread Lords 2006 GalCiv2: Dark Avatar 2007 GalCiv2: Twilight of the Arnor 2008 I think Loupdinour and many others tend to think of the 2 version that I've bol

Yeah I had a similar issue. Switching from Vista's Aero theme to Vista basic desktop theme is also another option to try. (on my machine, having Aero and SLI enabled will eventually crash most 3d apps, and often times hard lock the whole machine... I've been involved in some pretty long threads at various hardware forums, and so far it looks like compatability issues between the OS/Drivers/Application)
Using Internet Explorer 7.x, I am unable to use the Page Up/Down, Home, and End keys to navigate the forum pages unless I first left-click on the outer left/right edges of the page. Using my mouse's scroll wheel works fine however. Using Firefox 2.0.0.4, the keys work as expected, that is, there is no issue. I didn't see this posted before, sorry if I'm reporting a known issue and/or reporting this in the wrong thread.
I was able to fix my lock-up issue by turning off Vista's aero and going to the Vista Basic theme. Emailing would be a good idea, you might get a faster response that way. (Keep in mind they don't work on weekends)
Might want to move this to the "Support and Bugs" thread. Also, consider sending an email to . I haven't really noticed this behavior, but then I really never made much use of the mini-map, other than to check on cultural influence or look for planets to send ships to.
