Is there a file, like a version.txt or readme.txt that will show which version of the game is currently installed? I know I could launch the game and see what it shows on the main menu, but I'm looking for a way to check without launching the game. TIA

A 40% increase in planets and other objects for medium galaxies (the size I usually play) seems like a lot, in your testing does it seem pretty crowded?
Pragmatism +50% gives you 50% more points toward the Pragmatic ideology so if you accumulate 10 per turn you bump up to 15.
If that's the case, then it doesn't appear to be working in the current version.
I already had that info from the wiki, but thanks for sharing it for other visitors. Unfortunately, it doesn't explain what "Pragmatism 50%" does.
The Objectivism government has a “Pragmatism 50%” trait. What does this do? I’ve searched through wikis and tried looking through XML files but couldn’t find anything. It doesn’t appear to be increasing the number of ideology points I’m earning, which I assumed it would do. The “+4 Pragmatic Diplomacy” Trait, on the other hand, appears to be working by adding 2 plusses on the diplomacy screen with
Years ago, a member of the forums here made a spelling and grammar fix mod for Gal Civ 2, but every update to the game broke it. Eventually the person stopped updating the mod. It was a very sad day. All your spellings are belong to us! Set us up the grammar!
Any ETA on when this will move out of opt-in?
They changed the behavior sometime this year so that when a civilization surrenders their planets just disappear. You can change that in one of the options menus when setting up a new game, but you can't change it for a game that's already been started, unfortunately.
Nope that shipyard anchor sound is WAY too loud. I, too, try to remember to mute before moving a shipyard. Occasionally I forget, and wake up the whole neighborhood.
That's why I said I rename the Fleets, and not the ships. So as soon as a transport gets added to a fleet, I rename the fleet with a prefix. Again, it's still frustrating, but it's the best I can come up with till something better comes along.
I wish! The best I've been able to do is to always name my fleets that contain certain types of ships, then sort alphabetically. Something along the lines of all fleets containing transports have the first letter of their name be A, Colony ships, the letter B, fleets that are otherwise important might start with the letter Z, for example. Fleets that are just hanging out usually don't bother changing the names from whatever the game generates. It's a hassle, but
I'm currently playing an enjoyable game but wish I had used a different surrender option when creating the game. Is there a way to change the surrender behavior after the fact?
Ah, thanks a lot! That indeed seems to be the reason; after offering peace and a bunch of techs in exchange for their 1 colony ship, they are now gone. I suppose it makes sense to let them survive with just a colony ship, to give the civilization a long shot at coming back; it would be nice if GNN news maybe made an announcement that "Civilization X is fleeing for their lives in their last colony ship" or something to that effect.
Why is it some times (not always), when a civilization is wiped out (zero colonies, zero population), their ships, starbases, shipyards (which continue to build ships), asteroids, still exist and they still continue showing up in the diplomacy tab? Furthermore, notifications still pop up indicating that a dead civilization is changing their government (even civilizations that really are dead and have been for many dozens of turns). I have two save files, one from version 4.0 a
I just ran into this problem as well. The influence boost from the mercenary ship doesn't work. (version 3.7 of Retribution)
Does the AI Unintelligence mod by Delnar_Ersike ( https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/451274/ , now a locked post) work with current versions of Sins: Rebellion? Or were the tweaks in the mod included with the big 1.9 update? p.s. I haven't yet experimented with any mods yet.
Starting yesterday (September 18th 2017), anytime I try to launch Sins, Norton Firewall pops up and tells me the digital signature is not valid.
I have responded to your ticket.
Thanks. I edited my original post to mark it as solved. Been playing for almost an hour, seems to be solved after enabling a system managed page file on my boot drive (SSD) per your email instructions. I guess it was just happenstance that I ran into this issue right after updating to 1.6 [e digicons]:S[/e] In case others need it, Stardock Support's instruct
I tried to launch the game again while watching it with Process Explorer. Here's a screenshot of the Performance tab for GalCiv3.exe right before it crashes (as you can see it only takes 5 or 6 seconds):
Solved, see reply #4 below I submitted a ticket, but figured I'd post here as well. Ticket number WTK-815-22720 After 1.6 update, after launching the game from steam, the "loading" screen appears, then crashes with a windows low on memory error. I tried validating files a few times. The first couple of times, it said there were a few files that needed to be updated, then the 3rd time it said all files were validated. The Windows message says: "Close p
I get the same issue at 1920*1200 using normal UI scale. It shows up for me on the main galaxy screen as well.
This is great news, I had feared we wouldn't see another update until 1.3. I appreciate that Stardock is still putting out incremental bugfixes. I may actually start playing Elemental again this weekend, I haven't played since the pre-release candidate in August.
That's pretty impressive for a small company in Michigan. I'll enjoy watching where you guys go from here.
Diplomacy ..... For example, an appropriate "win-condition" for a diplomatic player would be a grand project using all their ties and connections across all the civilisations and populations across the world until finally, finally assassin dopplegangers were in place to assassinate every other ruler and leave me as the undisputed ruler of the land. ...
I like this idea. Does the game have to end when a victory condition is met? See my thoughts on the idea here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/387850
