I truly expect StarDock to implement this. There is absolutely no reason not to. Just about any modern TBS game has such a wait feature. Removing all the points to skip turn is a legacy of old school 4x games that is best left at the gaming museum at this point. I remember of an old school 4x I used to play that had such a wait feature before it got mainstream. I think It might be Sid Meyer Colonization, but not sure. SMAC does not have it , I just checked.

I don't know if either I am "old fashionned", Too used to GalCiv, have no sense of "Modern design" or something but I actually LIKE the black/neon theme of GalCiv. To me it look clean and it is easy to change the color theme to suit your preferences, which was a feature I liked in GalCiv 2. Right now in the Alpha you seem to be stuck with blue color but I expect we will have color palette settings like in GalCiv 2. I actually prefer a GalCiv Black/neon theme
Having not played FFH or its sequel, is it still playable and worth getting in to today?
I think It is. There are also many mods based off it. I used to play Master Of Mana , which is a heavily modified FFH2 mod. At the time I considered it my favorite CiV IV fantasy mod. It was still in development. But is possibly one that pushed the idea the furthest with summons, strategic spells, terraforming
...and my name is DARCA.
I like how this thread derailed into Darca's self apology. You know, Darca, when writing disjointedly you are not merely reducing your credibility and your impact when you try to communicate, but it is also a lack or respect to others who are trying to read you. Note to OP: Not 100% sure what it the objective of your post. Asking SD to make the game easy to mod? I think they said it would be the most easily moddable GalCiv so far.
Very curious about the AI that learns from players thing. In galciv 2 the AI was above your average 4x game, even if it was bad at a few things. Really looking forward to what Brad will pull off. I am still waiting to see a Great 4X AI. I am playing Age Of wonders III now and pretty disapointed by the AI, It received pretty good reviews but I can tell you it really sucks at using its armies strategically and taking advantages of opportunities. The AI is decent at
I don't understand you guys, you would really like to play GalCiv without any challengers? A universe without death, destruction and carnage is simply wrong!!! Also, this is a 4X game Xplore - Xpand -Xploit - Xterminate!! So what you are proposing would turn it into a 3X game [e digicons]8O[/e] .
Well, wont be able to see it live this time. :p
You're a real joy, you know that?
[e digicons]\o/[/e]
I'm noting a large abundance of bad opinions here. Tsk tsk.
Hey its not so bad so far Im only noting yours and Darca's
This option would be just silly. I oppose it. I think it should only be accessible by modding, not by default.
I would like if we could play the game with no AI opponents, barring anomalies and events. This way we could just peacefully build and experience the galaxy alone, as opposed to jostling with the enemy. It's pretty much just an empire builder at that point, but not enough games let you do this. Anyone else have this desire?
Sounds like the very definition of boredom.
Very interesting. Paul is quite good at those podcast things. Managed to keep me attentive for an hour. Looking forward to the game and more podcasts :)
The problem with quoting is when you have two quotes with poster names in the same post. The second quote must be pure [qu0te] [/qu0te] or it glitches. It is very annoying. This whole forum engine used by stardock is probably my least favourite of all the forums ive been on. Its really glitched and feature poor.
It was also like that in GalCiv 2, and honestly I like it that way. Even if it does not necessarily make sense. Also, if it did not work like this, taking a wormhole to the other side of the galaxy could have game breaking consequences.
Well, im mostly kicking everyone's butt in my game. Thanks to the AI being a bit retarded They keep sending small groups to harass me instead of making proper stacks of doom, That make them easier to pick up. Many strategy game AIs seem to have problems with that.
A major concern here is the fact that since Shipyards are now attackable one can simply gain slight military superiority and "camp" the enemy and destroy each and every new shipyard they attempt to build so they can never build any new forces and never recover. Previously each planet was an indestructible shipyard unless you defeat it in an invasion which prevented someone from being camped and make it possible to make a com
I just got a bit more into AOW III. I initially put the game aside in favor of GalCiv III. I started playing the Campaing but got bored quickly. Really I have a hard time playing 4X campaigns. I then Started a random map with 4 opponents in a medium map on King difficulty. I like it a lot more than campaign. Im playing Good elf sorcerer. Just met an evil Orc that promptly DOW me the next turn. Lets see how that turns out :D
Your Picture links are not actual links. I also recommend you imbed the pictures instead, readers can click the imbedded image to have a fullscreen version. I am lazy, so are most people so I do not like to have to copy paste a link in the browser. I want ready made links with thumbnails :p Also, since your post is really long, May I suggest using Headers in Bold and Large font to delimit your sections. Makes reading more enjoyable en easier to browse.
Is it me are there are lots of 4X games being made lately?
I prefer mining colony simply because it sounds cool and remembers me of Alien movies
I was just playing MultiPlayer with ParagonRenegade and an Epic space battle ensued. Two large stacks clashed together and I honestly thought he would win due to superior defense. But I still won and barely suffered any damage. By GalCiv 2 standards I am pretty sure that would have been a pretty tight battle with him winning rather easily. We tried a few times and the result is repeatable. It seems the presence of a Lost defender in my fleet is to blame, but removing
I just stopped reading at 2/3 of the post and skipped to Tl;DR. For one thing, Saving is already implemented in GalCiv III multiplayer. At this point, play by email or analog seems to not be part of the plans, devs said as much in the last podcast. But who can say for sure in the longer term.
