Open your eyes Max, EVERY single race in galciv is humanoid and is based off one of the creatures I listed. Drengin are evil apes, torians are fish people. Its a fact.
You forget the Yor. They are machine people. Also, this discussion is very weird as you constantly mix Sci-fi culture with what you speculate could truly exist in our universe. There is plenty of sci-fi with non humanoid sentient aliens

Making octopus people, fish people, ape people, lizard people, blue people, snake people, or bird people is narrow minded. Short answer, yes. For long answer Look at the founder`s vault documents.
Ive been playing the game for a good part of the evening. Very impressed. For what they claim to be an Alpha it seems extremely polished already. No crashing, all the features -at least in appearance- are in and functional, plays very smooth, AI is active. These guys over at Amplitude got them some skill at making games. Seems like this will also be better then Endless space by a wide margin. There are some rather minor things that annoy me, like the
Thank you very much Stardock for abandoning what used to be a great alternative to steam....
I used to be pro Impulse in the hayday, bacl when it was StarDock central. Was really sad when they sold it. But in retrospect I think that was a good move. Everyone was moving on to Steam anyway.
Quoting Alstein, reply 3 Amazing how much Gamestop paid for it, and how little they actually did with it. As soon as Gamestop got Impulse, they started to use Steam keys for some titles. Someone probably thought that was a great idea on paper -- take a cut of the profit and pass the responsibility to Steam, but it was idiotic. Why use Gamestop if we have to deal
"This just sounds like a campaign" you say. Not really. I don't want something scripted, I want something generated on-the-fly for ME to have fun. Kind of a rogue-like 4X game. How about that?
I like the comparison with the Rogue-Like. Making something such as this work would be an interesting spin-off of the 4X Genre. Wonder how hard it would be to make it work, a 4x is fun
Seems Gamestop is dying Read this week that PC gaming overtook consolegaming (in the Nordic lands atleast) but much of that is DOTA 2 and League of Legends together with Hearthstone. I wonder how long retailgaming will survive. When will the Big Crisis come?
They barely even sell PC games nowadays in the retail stores here, it is only console stuff.
You can’t make a Civilization style 4X game and have powerful magic at the same time. If the object of the game is to conquer another empire, then you have to deal with balance and magic eliminates that balance.
Multiplayer. Balancing asymmetrical gameplay is extremely hard, but can be done. Best example I can give is Starcraft. Part of what makes this game a masterpiece is how well the 3 races are balanced despit

Im running 1920x 1200 and the large UI option results in verious UI elements kind of overlapping. It is not really usable. I wish it was though as I feel the regular UI could be slightly fatter even at my resolution.
Quoting EvilMaxWar, reply 8Most of the times dirty contacts are the problem. Alcohol works fine on things with exposed contacts... microswitches don't normally have exposed contacts, so even if that is the cause, dumping it on top isn't liable to do much. My experience has generally been that button failure is due to plastic part wear, or the solder joints cracking. YMMV.
Your typical microswitches are n

With some luck that might clean it. Given that the button for the wheel is generally to the side (so drenching the wheel wouldn't hit it anyway), and the switch is more likely worn and broken than dirty, I'd save the alcohol and just buy a new one.
