Thanks Lucky Jack you have a point about checking the Virtual Memory settings I will do that. I don't really expect my old PC to run the game that well on the larger map settings as I don't have an uber amount of RAM I know. Would be nice to see more performance improvements though, and to be fair the last couple of releases have improved things a little bit.

I'm not sure I believe this should be a hard thing for the AI to do, there are probably only a 1/2 dozen factors at most on any planet that would help you to determine where to base your colony. It doesn't sound like a hard AI problem, sounds like something you could do pretty well with a few hard-coded rules.
I think multiple sensors are not realistic. If I have a radar set that can see 100 miles, putting a second one on a ship wouldn't make it 200 miles. The limit of the radar is unchanged. That is how it should be here as well IMO.
I agree but in game terms I don't really care all that much. But who knows might depend on how the sensors actually work, I mean they clearly have to be FTL sensors so they aren
I could but for now i'll just work around by hard coding a path in the batch file that works. thanks for the offer though.
The registry key it looks for reads "E:\My Documents", so assume it doesn't like the space between My and Documents.
odd %docsdir% for me is returning "My", just that which is why it doesn't work moddir becomes E:\My\My Games\GalCiv3\Mods
If anything this mechanic should be a based on the distance from your empire capital planet.
When your talking distances on galactic scales anything outside your home system is very, very far.
Thanks guys my issue is also somehow to do with that path though my username is a single word. The homepath fix didn't work. But when I copied the mod directory elsewhere and hard coded the path to it as the modpath in batch file that worked fine. I'll let you know once I have more time to look at what stops it finding the path on mine. But I can just leave it hard coded as a workaround.
I agree let us plaçe it
They have to do something about that pragmatic trait that stops people declaring war on you either take it out or tell they player why and how much longer it has to run. That way not everyone when they first encounter it will come to the support forum thinking it's a bug as they justifiably will at the moment.
I've reported the same issue, sometimes it comes up sometimes not. The combat does playout you just don't see any of it.
Starus, I agree with you but they are unlikely to add that at this late stage, I made some suggestions along these lines during the alpha. We may see some of these things appear in later expansions. What I would like to see is the robots replaced with researchers for all races not just human even if that's a later patch to me it makes a difference.
Yes I think the idea of creating ships to use as sonar buoys is a very good strategy. Generally on Smaller maps Sensors and range matter a lot less anyway as does speed.
As I say admiralWillyWilber, we will see. Maybe I'm old and cynical, but generally when I design a system I try and make it as intuitively logical and as obvious as possible. Maybe your right and no reviewer will complain about it, but I really doubt it. Time will tell us who was right anyway, assuming they don't change it before launch.
I don't really agree that it's a bad design in itself, having a widely scattered population spread across lots of star systems, it would lead to a loss of social cohesion and respect for central government, (unless your species had very different psychology from ours and they have an attribute for that). But hey we all have different opinions on these things.....it's just yours is clearly wrong [e digicons]O:)[/e] . Seriously though some people will support thi
I have lots of stalling and freezing issues particularly when zooming in or out, or turning the map. I also get them when transitioning between screens like into the ship designer they can last 10 seconds to about 50 seconds during which time the game totally freezes, makes playing often frustrating. I have 6GB Ram An old 4 core Duo processor. and a nVida GTX295 Video card. I even get this on Medium sized galaxies, switching my card to single GPU mode seemed to
Yes hence my suggestion for a scaling factor based upon Galaxy Size, e.g. morale penalty for large empires becomes; Morale Penalty = (NumberOfPlanetsOwned*scaling factor) The scaling factor would be at it's max 1 on small maps and get progressively smaller as map size gets larger. I believe what it's supposed to represent is the loss of cohesion in society as your empire gets larger, which is fine but on the bigger map size you need to scale the impact per plan
It's only really an issue in the larger Galaxy sizes, in the smaller ones 1% per planet is pretty small and as has been said can easily be countered. All they reall need to do is add a scaling factor that reduces the per planet penalty as the Galaxy size is increased, since in bigger galaxies you expect empires to be bigger.
AdrianHobson, I like your suggestion. I think probably if they intend to go with the current go live date even that would be too hard to get in before release but I'd like it. I think most likely the game will go live with the Constructor spam more or less as it is now, but I do think it's something they intend to address somewhere down the line so I think
Sadly I might not have much time either. But I would love to get to the bottom of this.
I agree we need the option to edit, you can copy and edit the copy then delete the original but that's really clunky.
yes the game has changed in Beta 5 people declare war on me all the time, they don't attack that often though luckily on the lowest difficulty.
we'll see if it's something that comes up in reviews and on the support forums if your faith in people is well placed. :-).
I've realised as much as I love GalCiv3 I kind of suck at it, in my current game when i meet the Dregin and they declared war on me there power was 110, mine was 33???? Up until then I thought I was doing ok, I was clearly mistaken. The sad thing I was playing on beginner with just 3 opponents. Mind you when I met the Altarians they where on 30 power and I was on 48, seems the Dregin where way out in front of both of us, then in another game again the power differe
