I want to be able to crew my ships from a pool of officers. These officers would be able to level and with enough experience can become leaders to allow creation of an officer barracks or something. Or you can have all of them on one ship like the enterprise and kick some major booty. Captain - Tactical - Engineer Security - Haha not sure what combat will look like but if boarding operations became a possiblity Medical </

Honestly, this is a problem with the genre itself. You will find yourself many times in variations of the same scenario. Fortunately, they are adding multiplayer into the game for people like you. A human will generally have the possibility of a wide variety of strategies.
Just on the whole 'bugs' thing. I was wondering if Stardock was going to use any external bug tracking mechanism for the alpha/beta Just as a reference, Prison Architect is using Mantis to track bugs for all alpha users. And it's a lot easier to submit bugs, track, merge, etc stuff there than going through reams and reams of forum posts trying to find the one tidbit of information that might be useful. I mean
You can't delete them but you can stop getting notifications from them.
F5, damn
Yeah I know alpha won't be out till early next year...but maybe I'm wrong. F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5
Ok it's been a while since I played GalCiv but I believe this is how it works. You need at least 1 defense verses the attackers weapons to have any benefit whatsoever. If they were attacking you with cannons you need armor. In the scenario you outlined neither of you only had shields and they attacked with cannons. I believe each attack is checked verses each defense. You get the full benefit of defense if your defenses matches the attacke
Checking the forums every minute to see if they launched the alpha yet. Even if I know it won't be out for at least a little while.
Quoting Cikomyr, reply 1 While I understand your concerns, I would rather we do not have full visibility within cultural borders. Otherwise, how could ships infiltrate? Enemy ships probably shouldn't be able to walk up to your front door unnoticed.
Actually they should and I think you should also be able to deploy ships that help conceal or disgui
Ah, birth of the federation. Completely forgot about that game. I lost a childhood playing that, Master of Magic, Star Control 1 and 2, Civilization 2-5.
A XCOM or Elemental style tactical combat would be poor way to represent combat between starships. Personally I'd like to see positional tactical combat such as with Starfleet battles or Sid Meier's Ace Patrol. Other than that a RTS or order based system works better for space. Heck just put a simplified version of Sins for tactical battles. HOWEVER, we are talking about Stardock here and currently they some of the best game designers in the industry for strategy games. So we can

I'll be honest it's growing on me. Part of me likes the more cartoony style of the Kumquat engine. It's refreshing verses the grittyness that is out there these days. I'm willing to bet that you can turn off the outlines. You can in legendary heroes.

Ah I think that's it. Also the blue on the side I think is one too many colors.
https://stardock.cachefly.net/www_galciv3_com-assets/screenshots/ship_lrg.jpg I love and hate the look of this ship. It looks fragile, like it's made of stained glass. I havent played GalCiv2 for a while I believe thats a Drengin ship based on the colors. I donno it looks cool but kinda bothers me too. Anyone else think the same thing. I'm having a hard time narrowing down what is bothe
No competitors...Beamdog, GOG, Origin, Gamestop (Impulse), and UPlay. Unless you meant quality competitors then I see your point. (Ok I like GOG)
please add a gift, or 50% bonus for previous galciv versions or some coupon for full collectors edition of all games. I wanna buy....
I think I read on the welcome message that Stardock is going to do a sale on Steam.
How is distant worlds btw? The screenshots of the game scare the crap out of me.
/facepalm Don't buy it if you don't agree with Stardock's "sneaky tactics". I for one will enjoy the next GalCiv3.
From the preorder page. * Star names subject to Stardock approval; no vulgar or inappropriate names allowed. Star name submission will be through www.galciv3.com at a later date. All game code will be delivered through Steam when available. *** Oh BTW typo on the website. Should be codes not code.
It's a preorder. It's not available. Alpha will be coming out sometime this winter.
I was watching at work. Watched it 5 times without sound. Just now seen it with sound.
hehe isn't he an x-lawyer. Isn't "being an asshole" required? I donno I prob won't buy SD2 but I still don't feel I wasted money buying it. Pricing isnt black and white. Just because it is a sequel does not mean it's a $60 game. An expac is also not required to be 39.99. It's just pricing models that have worked in the past. If it doesnt sell at whatever price they will decide he wont make money. I'm pretty sure he knows that.
