I've been playing this game for a long time, and I have never ever seen the United Planets come up. Ever. The only thing I can think is that it comes about when you have found all of the races. I always play slow games on the largest maps, and I often don't find all the factions until late in the game. Many of my games crash before I find everyone (yay game!). However, I have finished the game before, and I've found all the opponents before. Is my game on crack?
I agree, though I could see them having to recode AI to knowingly search for Anti-matter near black holes. Today I don't think they search a blackhole until they see/find the anti-matter. (I could be wrong though).
Does the AI knowingly search for resources now... and if so, how does that work? Even if it does, finding a black hole does not mean finding antimatter, any more than finding an aster
I think nebulae and black holes should be visible from the start of the game, and should not have to be 'discovered.' I say this because even TODAY we can detect nebulae and black holes from Earth, without the fancy future technology in the game. We find black holes either by the gravitational effect they have on other celestial bodies, or when they distort light passing near them, creating cool effects like doubling images of stars behind the black hole. Nebulae are even easier, as m
Ok, that makes sense. A skip-to-next-turn feature would help you a lot, as would a modification of the sentry function (call it "reserve" or something like that). As for forgetting where your units are: I have this problem too. The only solution I have found is to establish depot areas close to potential adversaries where keep your inactive ships. When a war starts, you deploy from the depot. It is NOT a perfect solution, especially since it leaves swaths of your border
Yea, its half assed as it is.... you cannot easily find ships with some movement left but at the same token you cannot end turn if there are any ships with full movement left - which is something i would love to be able to do!
If you hit "pass," you can end your turn without issuing orders. If you set the fleet on "guard," they will not pop up in the task queue at all until you take them off guard or the
Setting the Trait value to 1.0 (supposedly 100%) in the map xml doesnt actually make all planet have traits, I even set it to 100 and it acted no different to 1.0.
Ok, that confirms my suspicions. Like I said, I wonder why it does this.
f you added a trait to them you kind of tricking the generator into using planets that have traits [/quo
Took a deeper look into the PlanetArtDefs, I think you could remove the planets with not traits. But, it will take alot of the randomness out of galaxy generation. Will require you to remove or add a trait to the GenericWorld Art defines. I do not believe the schema will allow you to add more than one trait to a single art define to keep the randomness in there.
Oh, I see what you mean... giving a trait t
I do not think you can shut off no trait planets. Atleast I could not find a way when I tried a few months back.
Muchos gracias! I will probably just take your word for it and move on. I will change that moon, though. :)
Many times a unit ends a turn with movement points left. In other games, either you are asked at the end of the turn if you want to go back and use up the rest of their movement. Other games do the pre-determined movement first, but that is terrible too, because you cannot react to what happened on your opponent's turn, you have to wait for the ship to go completely the wrong way, then bring it back again. So, it would be nice if the game prompted you to finish fleet movements bef
It would be nice if starbases that have a constructor in the defending fleet came up as "Upgradable Starbase" in the task queue. It would also be nice if this happened when a constructor joins a fleet defending a starbase. It is unlikely that many players dock constructors at starbases not intending to upgrade them, and they can always decide not to do it. The thing is, on big maps it is very hard to keep track of where constructors have gone; you have to visually search the map for s
Its actualy Iridian moon. Look in PlanetArtDefs and search for :- MoonSurfaceTexture
Thank you, I'll check into that. I'd still like to figure out how to shut off these random worlds that don't have traits. If I can't, my mod will live. But it would be nice!
The red moon is Mars used as a moon I do believe.
Ok, that is intersting (I think it may be too red, but whatever), but where is the PlanetArt? How do I override it? Any idea?
UPDATE: It now appears ALL randomly generated planets in my game are using the non-existent 'red moon' planet art!
P.S. Sorry for the derivative design. The ship has a history in-game, and when it came time to modify the hull again the old Rebel Medical Frigate just wouldn't leave me alone.
Anyone else have this problem? When I make a ship, sometimes it looks one way while it is being edited, and then snaps to a different look when you save it. Open it up again in the designer, 'use' the design, etc., and you see the original ship you wanted. Save it again, and it looks wrong everywhere. This seems to be related to using custom parts: a similar problem happens in the designer, and I'm sure someone by now has realized the custom parts break sometimes when you
I will look at doing that. For me it would be to make a shipset of spheres.
Yes, please! The ship components are great, but getting an actual sphere is currently impossible. Odd considering it is one of the simplest shapes.

Maybe the icon could be greyed out or changed to the race's color (assuming it isn
It would be great if a tapped resource had a slightly different strategic icon, so you can tell which ones are tapped when you are zoomed out on the map. Otherwise you have to constantly remember to scroll in and visually check the graphics, or hope that the little 'manufacturing pipeline' lines are clear enough to see (they usually aren't on my computer).

Not really ground breakers and probably quite easy to suss out/fix. At the time i had so much going on I just pushed it aside for a rainy day. Which has not arrived yet
Oh. Interesting. I guess I will hit the gas giant problem at some point myself. The only problem I can see is that you can't ma
Its because the game you load is never exactly the same game that you saved.
Does this seem odd to anyone else? What a peculiar behavior for the game. It sounds like an AI glitch. If the AI is doesn't record what it is 'thinking' at the point you save, it may come to a different conclusion about what to do than it did before the reload. That is a complete guess, though.
Whenever I load a saved game, I get a message from another faction giving me tribute or asking for a gift. This interaction did not take place before the save, and it happens when I open old saved games. This seems off to me...
Pics or it didn't happen! Sorry, I can't seem to figure out how to thumbnail these... The Fog of War, note the colored icons and large icons for giants. The dark one at far left is a brown dwarf: A giant. Note it takes up seven hexes. Also note how hard it is to tell which spectral type (color) it is. note the planetary symbol... magenta is a 'vanilla'
