I can confirm also seeing the same behavior with the orphaned shipyards.

Been playing pretty heavily the last couple of days and I've run across a few oddities/bugs. 1. This seems to be repeatable. I've got a colony ship in the middle of no where upgrading. An AI fighter finds it and attacks it. Game comes up with the battle prompt and as soon as you click on it, the game stops responding. It's trying to do something because the CPU spikes when this occurs. Force quit, reload from last auto save, same thing o
My latest series of models came in. The Polished Strong and Flexible has a really nice finish. Highly recommend it for medium-low surface detail models or models that simply need the durability.
Unless it goes from normal to completely locked instantaneously, you should be able see what's spiked. If memory serves, you can use MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner to display all the info in game.
It may be helpful to Stardock if you can start up a resource monitor before hand to see what's going on. My specs are pretty similar to yours and I haven't experienced this behavior.
What's your system resources look like when the slowdown happens? I've spent most of my time in the designer and haven't run into that, although to be fair my designs aren't the most complex.
Bad news, it's not an NX class, it's an Akira. But flip it upside down and you've pretty much got an NX. LOL. Got about 20 Trek ships I'm working on getting printed.
Oh, I know. I did models for about 10 years myself, but that was almost 15 years ago and this was just a rush job on "prototypes" so I wasn't terribly concerned with the end result. Those are good tips to be sure, and the Pledge Floor care is a new one for me. However, I'm trying to set expectations for people not familiar with the technology. I'm aware they can be fixed (and again, your tips are great tips), but I suspect many people buying them are expect
I just realized I never posted the additional pictures, sorry about that. It's a poor paint job, but it lets you see the details of the model itself. As mentioned previously, this was printed in the Ultra Frosted Detail. As a show piece, the quality of the model is fantastic. All of the details on the wings are clean and visible. All t
It just blows my mind that so many people responded with "yes". I can almost guarantee those of you who did aren't running high resolutions.
What are you defining as high resolution?
I didn't see this happen at all in Alpha 2, so it would seem to be Alpha 3 specific. On the planet screen, it seems to be very picky about where to click to select a hex to build on and same goes for the mouse overs to see the hex bonuses. On some of them I have to hunt around a bit to find where it wants me to click. It's quite annoying. Also, I know I saw somebody else mention this as well, but I got off to a fairly early start military wise and I've be
3. Planetary Invasion should be age of war and should take a little bit to get to, this will keep from rushing a weaker empire right away, Let space be explored and colonized prior to stealing colonies.
I have to disagree on that. The threat of military conquest is part of the game. That's the point of diplomacy. Age of war is talking how many turns into the game? If you don't
I'll have to upload some more pictures at home. The naming varies a bit depending on the particular site, but in Shapeways terms, the main ones you'll be looking at are... Ultra Detail/Frosted Ultra Detail - If you've got a design with a lot of surface detail or fine edges, this is the way to go. Finish has a slight grainy feel to it. Smaller models may have to go this route for Shapeways t
If anyone is interested, I can show some comparison's between the material options and/or provide advise on choices based on what's we've done for our miniatures. There's several things to consider in regards to material choices.
Memory in Laptops and Desktops are plugged into slots on the motherboard specifically designed for them. You need to match the memory cards to the type of memory cards supported by your machine. You also have to check to see if you can simply add cards or if you have to swap them. If your PC has two memory slots and each is slotted with a 2G memory card, then you will have to replace one or both of them. If your PC has 4 slots and only two
I've printed quite a few miniatures from Shapeways for a table gaming project, quality (with the right material selection) has been fantastic. For comparison, here's our prototypes done off a Makerbot (I think). You can see my thumbnail in the first picture fo
I also agree on the humor. Any game that manages to make fitting Monty Python references gets two thumbs up in my book.
Started up another game, started exploring. Galaxy seemed to have an abnormally high amount of good quality planets (PQ 20+), not sure if that's relevant or not. Colonized one of them and it popped up asking what I wanted to do with the pods. Naturally I went with the evil option. It took me to the planet screen and I laid out my initial structure production. Clicked done and then it popped up with a precursor ship window. I gave it my answer and it too
While not bad, I have to say I prefer the music in SoaSE. But good music definitely makes a difference in a game like this.
Found a few oddities/minor annoyances with the shipyard. The scale sliders are somewhat non-intuitive. IE, it scales by a set value but if the current value isn't one of the set ones, it rounds to the nearest set value when you click the increase/decrease buttons rather than just adjusting by the set increment and the parts aren't placed with one of the set scale values. It also sometimes skips over increments. IE, going from 100 down to 60, causing you to ha
There really shouldn't be a limit in the number of modules. Give us a class limit. I'm thinking that even a genuine huge design (when huge ships are implemented) I'll end up not being able to place all the modules I want... If I'm making a Tiny ship using tiny tech limit all modules to Tiny, but let me place as MANY as I want. Don't stunt my burgeoning artistic ability. Design after all doesn't have much to do with f
It's happened several times to me now in fleet battles. One ship has 0hp remaining at the end of combat but is still alive.
Don't see this being mentioned yet, so apologies if it has. If memory serves, in GC2, when you select an existing ship (on the game map, not ship yard) you had an upgrade button to upgrade it to the latest and greatest ship of that hull type. I don't seem to have that option on GC3, is that something that is going to be added later or will you just have to scuttle a ship and build a new one? GC2 also had the option to hide Core ship designs. If you're lik
