I don't know why I'm bothering to respond to you Darca, but that link you posted says 48% of people would prefer GalCiv3 NOT have tactical combat. Admittedly I'm not sure what you think that poll proves considering it's got a grand total of 99 votes. When you say "have you seen the polls", I hope you have something with a larger survey base than that. According to that poll, there's a grand total of 12 people that won't buy the game if it doesn't

@Timmaigh: I explained my feelings on this in another thread but people like DARCA seem to be incapable of understanding my points. I'm not saying you have to agree, but I do expect people to at least read what I say and counter it rather then just accusing me of having my head stuck in the sand. When companies make a strategy game, they without fail, decide to focus on either empire building or combat. On the RTS side, they almost always focus on th

@Timmaigh: Yes, for example people wanting tactical combat added to the game. That doesn't really fit this particular game. Like I said, I'm not saying nothing should be added/improved but as a sequel it has to be tempered by the fact that it's expected to bear resemblance to it's namesake. I agree Starcraft 2 could have used something to make it less generic. But people these days seem to be stuck on new games having ALL the features used by any

Yes, it's another book. I seem to be incapable of being brief. For whatever reason, quotes are refusing to work for me so I'll have to make due without. Timmaigh: I'm not saying you can't make any additions. However, many people aren't asking for just some new novelties, they are asking for things that completely change the way the game plays. My examples of Warlords and Battle Chess were extremes, but I was trying to make a poin

I've seen a lot of people on here complaining about this both with GalCiv3 and Civ:BE and I don't get it. These games are sequels not spin-offs. You buy a sequel because you like the original and want more of it. There's been 6 Star Wars movies and 12 Star Trek movies, both with more coming. If the new Star Wars movie comes out and is a musical, you're going to be like WTF? It's a sequel, it's supposed to pick up where the previous left of

I just have a hard time understanding people complaining about "immersion" in a game like this. It's a game set in the imaginary future with imaginary races, and imaginary star names. Not to mention the game is known for being humorous and the star names aren't even visible most of the time. The first game I played I sat there going star by star to see if my name showed up. That ended up being too tedious and time consuming and I stopped. Humor is a mat

It's a great idea, but I am urging a tighter leash with the name-curating. Or maybe if the name is TheDarkOne1999, a change to Dark One - depending on how much time they want to sink into it. Let's say this was more of a mainstream press that you didn't bother to follow, most people might think because they don't read it then it has no effect on you. What if that press started adding cultist manifestos in their OP Eds every day, and within a year, both your neighbors joined these cults and constantly berated you for not joining their cult, would you say it effected you then? [quote quoting="post"] Its obvious a post is a suggestion by the title and category, not the word "Suggestion" as it's redundant. Also letting your words in your post explain your idea works too! So be more like me when making post titles and not make it a essay. Maybe even a play on words. Just stop the madness all those that apply as its driving me crazy the more people do it. [quote who="Wintercross" reply="93" id="3495225"] The majority of Strategy games I played/play feature tactical combat. An Empire building game is the perfect kind of game to have tactical combat, because it gives those battles context. Total War would be pretty damn boring if it was just the tactical combat. Likewise Moo2 wouldn't have been any were as good as it was without tactical battles. So Tactical combat might not affect you, but there are a lot of people who wa

I'm not disagreeing on the "more part choices" sentiment, which they have already said will happen. However, keep in mind there's a restriction to how elaborate they can allow you to get. That ship you design still has to be able to render at a reasonable speed in game so don't expect to be able to create 10,000 part ships.

[quote quoting="post"] Greetings! Today I would like to ask you guys some questions about strategy games. 1. What specific features of diplomacy do you traditionally like the most? I want you to be as specific as you can be. Which parts of diplomacy from any game do you like the most? What parts do you remember long after playing the most? 2. Looking back, how many turns do your favorite games last? This is important to know the specific number
