That looks really nice. Perhaps keep the minimap the way it is now (as a simple, uncluttered view), but overlay transparent logos when you zoom out all the way!
Achronous
It does sound like they chose that trait. Then all the planets and starbases within their sphere of influence flip to theirs. There's nothing to do to prevent it... I agree, a notification that it happened would be good...
I just incurred the diplomatic cost instead of them... It might also depend on your strength.
I know there's that option: they never actually do anything though, they just say they are disappointed, lose relations points and the ships still stay there.
I think the default should be the ships stay away unless they are scouts for example. If I take my military ships close to their planets they always declare war, so they should expect that from the player too.
No, that's right. I suppose it wasn't clear when it was happening. Glad you fixed it.
Sometimes when you just quit the game and try to restart it, the application will think it's still running (as it is still being unloaded). You only need to wait a few minutes for it to terminate properly. Then you can start it again. If you can't wait try exiting Steam. It will then tell you if the game is still running as well.
My problem is that is it could quickly take some fun out of the game if you restrict speed and range too much. You already balance your ship by selecting either an extra range module or an extra weapons module. If you start having artificial caps/reductions then it takes the choice away from the player. At the end of the day who is to say that an alien species can't stack their ships full of long-range sensors and telescopes and specialise in seeing across the universe?
If you redownload those ships, I think you can select the custom parts in the ship designer and then save them separately. I haven't actually tried to do that yet (not sure why, probably because my own designs are not that insipiring!), but I think that's how it works. If you ask nicely I'm sure someone else will help...
Try pressing TAB to end the turn. Does that fix the issue temporarily?
I actually has something similar happen, but with the relics. There's an achievement granted when you control all the relics. I thought I had it in the bag since I had built or bought out all the starbases that were linked to relics and made sure I upgraded them to have xeno-archaeology. Even after the game ended I didn't get the achievement. It worked in a new game that I started later though.
Can you try reloading the game (maybe through an autosave near the end?) and defeating them again? Does that bring up the achievement?
I like the commitment to diversity of players. As long as people have the options they can play the way they wish. I just hope this doesn't splinter the community.
They were definitely producing lots of medium and large ships...
Well, the reason I'm asking is because in my game they were heavily in debt too, but continued to trounce everybody and making more ships... EDIT: typos
How can they have such a massive debt and then continue building and researching??
In my recent game I found the AI to be indeed more aggressive: had the Drengin attack the Snathi first and take over a planet near my borders. Then the Drengin attacked me and took two of my planets. I managed, sort of, to reclaim my planets after a devastating war. I suppose this weakened the Drengin a little bit, because a custom faction I made, made an attack on both the Drengin and the Snathi and took over all their planet. I was a bit shocked I suppose as this was the first time
I have had this in my last game too. I didn't manage to colonise as many planets as usual and the Drengin had lots of planets next to them . They managed to massively outweigh me militarily and economically. They were producing large ships when I just barely managed to produce medium ones. Then my custom faction (which I was playing against) somehow managed to beat them (still don't know how). Both Drengin and later my custom faction when they got Drengia seemed to have an economic ad
I also found the AI has better ships and the Drengin are currently handing my ass in a plate...
As I said before, I hope the two new races will be the Arceans and the Torians [e digicons][/e]
I bet Stardock wanted to make sure they squished all the early game issues first. Then the last couple of months I get the impression they were focusing on Ashes. IMO they should soon start pumping out new updates to help the AI and then finally the modding community. Although really Ashes is a different team and shouldn't have affected GalCiv, but this is the impression I got...
We probably need to stick to the motto: "Perfection is Achieved Not When There Is Nothing More to Add, But When There Is Nothing Left to Take Away"
I agree, there should be a delay in some of those. On the other hand, mega events are supposed to change the way your game is playing. If dreadlords happen early then it forces everybody to research militarism much earlier, potentially making the whole game more violent. You also get to conquer a good world early on if you manage to defeat them!
Anybody else got any luck in getting 3D printed ships? I would like to see more, especially before and after painting!
Please don't stop doing them, he was only suggesting if in the future you fancy doing more how to improve some of them. You don't have to take the advice if you don't want, they still look nice :)
