Stargates would result is serious Game imbalances, and are just an attempt to get round the movement restrictions Brad imposed on ships towards the end of the GalCiv II series. It will result enhanced BattleGiants collected behind a couple of Stargates ready to transposrt instantly across the Game Universe - a cheap way of defence or attack, and very unbalancing for the Game. Stargates will never happen in GalCiv - ever.
At the very least, it's going to introduce an element of doubt into the mind of every player who autoresolves a battle and loses. And I don't think that's a good thing.
There's an element of doubt in many minds when they slug it out manually one on one in Games - a loss many times still results in the infamous cry "the AI cheats" - no matter whether its automated or manual. Fact remains GalCiv is a Stra
Turn the monitor back to0 its haedware defaults, usually small buttons on the bottom or the side will access its internal menus - just hit defaults all round. If still like it ... Zap the driver, and purge any directory related to the screen, reload the driver. If you are still getting the green tinges, my guess would be the screen is on its way out - get it tested in a local hardware shop.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this or not but
About a Zillion threads ...... [e digicons][/e] Stardock are well aware of the issue - to say the least. At present their answer is no Carriers.
Its likely this cannot be developed in one go, but could be spread over Expansion Packs enhancing as time goes on. The start point is the establishment of Supply Routes, Convoys and their protection. This fills a major gap in Galciv, the concept of Logistics - what to do in a Game Play sense with the "Rear Areas" and Combat Resupply. At present, essentially, rear areas are left alone - for sure a couple of events - but in the scheme of things, near zero happens - that would not happ
I never understood why ground invasion was so much of an afterthought, considering how much detail and strategic scope went into the space combat. aacckk .... the idea behind Jagged Knife was fine - I get it in a way. The problem was its implementation. The final straw for me was when several hundred - I kid you not - several hundred orange blobs hit the screen all over the freeking place. It was like a measles rash just came out of hyper space. That was it - I canned the game and started another, I couldn't be Ar$%d picking my way through several hundred orange blobs one by one
I can find simplified games or shoot-em-up's without much effort - there are lots of them out there. GalCiv is a TBS, its designed to be a thinking game, with battles along the way. It should stay that way - simplified shoot-em-up's are not hard to find, and I for one can live without them. If anything GalCiv has much scope for more "stuff" (define "stuff" according to personal preference) as PCs become more powerful, and the latest jump to 64 bit. In that re

WIllythemailboy . ...... nice catch ..... the Java Update worked a treat. The forum is going like greased lightning now. Nice find - thanks for posting. These kind of articles are never earth shattering, but they are always good stuff to keep the pot boiling as they say. Minor stuff in the great scheme of things - but needs tweaking if I am not the only one getting this... On my Karma screen, the images of the donor's icon are massive, three of them take up much of the screen, which is limiting functionality. Not been around for a few years since GalCiv2 - so the difference in the images is stark and clear on my Kama Screen compared to GalCiv2 days - definitely started when this new Site was put up. Its cosmetic, and not
