Going to war or someone declaring war with you should be a big issue. What I mean is, after you get a declaration of war in Diplomacy, you should have it splash up back on the main screen like a newspaper headline (or the futuristic version of one). Obviously it quits or you can click it away. I remember in Civ 1 this would always happen. It kind of threw the gravitas of war in your face.

You know what i miss about strategy games today? is that war is not made as the huge thing it is when it happens. whenever you go to war or someone goes to war withy you it should flash up on the main screen like a newspaper news flash. In diplomacy there should be NO confusion as to whom you are at war with.
Also, this is not the first time I have seen Stardock pilloried for Steam's decisions. Actually, I see no issue with that. Stardock was highly anti-DRM way back around the Galciv2 vanilla days, and then they changed face and went to Steam. That was entirely of their own choosing. Anyway, I had a good time playing t
I had this too, not even with 2.3 (which I don`t have yet). I thought it was cool until it just constantly looped until I declined.
If you paid full price for the original game (which was not very good) then Crusade is $19.95. But if you never bought the original game then it AND Crusade are $19.95. This is no way to treat your customers. That sound you're hearing? It's the camel's back breaking. I think I'm done with Stardock. It's not like there aren't a dozen other space 4X's to play. I`ve tried several strategic space games and Pirates always do the same thing when attacking other ships, planets or factions... Kill everything. What`s the point of piracy, people? It`s to get RICH, not die and fighting means they might die. Pirates want to do things the easiest way for the cash/prizes. You approach your victim and hope he will give you his stuff first then you leave, depending on what kind of pirate they are and how strong. So he
Gog`s version of the appear appear identical to Steam (I have both), but I play the GOg version because... 1. It`s a lot easier to add custom files, I don`t have to go through Steam/Steam apps/common/ blah, before I get to the files. 2. I don`t have a 3rd party client taking up resources and controlling when I can or cannot play the game. My games always start slower with Steam. 3. If I need to transfer to a new pc I don`t get the 3rd degree from Steam. 4. <str
I am only defeated if I`m wiped out. No words on a screen will tell me different while I still have pieces on a board.

Thankyou, now gotta wait for it to appear on GOG.

Interesting phenomenon I noticed on games forums: Many people who pop up and throw hurdles in the way because they "think" it won`t work, without any evidence or positive counter-suggestions. It`s like they default to negativity. I notice this a lot. These ideas are for the Devs; they are best suited to deciding whether my suggestions are valid or not.
I agree... I'd rather see more music... like different sound tracks for the different ideologies, or techno in the research screen.. the soundtrack for the game is not bad... but more would be cool! Some audio might be fun... also Stardock need not hire Big name people for the voice acting.... I'm sure Paul and Brad some of the others wouldn't sound horrib
It`s great to be able to add faces to citizens, fleets and state jobs now. Thankyou. Adds immersion. I also love the advances in AI and please keep at it. But... I`d like to see more aesthetic improvements too, especially in battle: 1. I would like to see more randomised destruction of ships. For instance, instead of destroyed ships always blowing up instantly could we not have a variety of ship deaths such as: a, A destroyed ship simply veers off course and st

Cheers, Javno
You kind of answered your own question. If you want the complete experience, well off course you`d buy the complete set, wouldn`t you as that be the complete experience, right?
I agree on some of this. I've spent a lot of time coding on all these points. The biggest problem is they don't let the AI design it's own ships. I only can choose among the crummy ships that it generates. It's very very frustrating. At some point we will probably write a full on ship designer AI. But that's like a solid 2 months of work. Godlike is too easy? Wow. I just about survive on Normal. Guess I should have expected that one from someone sooner or later. You don`t happen to be constantly reloading whenever something doesn`t go perfectly your way perhaps?
D/R. The interface seems to prioritize the playing of sounds over visual feedback. For example, in dealing with input lag, the sound begins before the planetary improvements are displayed when cued for construction. The lag would be less perceptible if the items rendered ahead of the sounds.
I actually found that games which rendered the sound first often ran better than games that didn`t. Same her
Great stuff although I thought everyone here had Crusade by now. Kinda dumb if people are still just playing on the base game.
So er... how is this going to help anything? Hasn`t everyone here got Crusade? Although the screenshot was interesting to read.

There are so many tongue-in-cheek quips in that readme i wasn`t sure what to take seriously! "Tech stealing by player or AI players made less frequent" But this is good, spy thefts were a little too frequent on both sides. Some of these AI improvements actually have me worried. I might actually have a real battle on my hands soon! But it`s excellent! :)
Well that`s good.
