Once the depot is updated and published, you will be able to download it.
What satoru1 said :) Alpha is still today, you'll get it just as soon as all of the relevant buttons have been pushed and levers thrown. I'll try to pop in and post here when we've confirmed that everything is working on our end (if ID or
Campaign is not in the alpha, no.
Those will be handled on a case-by-case basis. I encourage everyone to give their submitted names some thought, and maybe tone it down a little if it seems borderline just to avoid any issues. Of course, none of this prevents you from renaming your planets in multiplayer to things like "lol u jelly ray" and "y u so slow ray" and "sux 2 b ray" when you're out-colonizing the heck out of the game's producer. I can personally confirm that.
We can filter the depots, but Steam will happily let you buy GC3 even though you don't own a 64-bit computer. We would prefer to avoid disappointing those sure-to-be-unhappy customers.
Ahahaha I just heard back from devs, it'll be Wednesday and not Monday. Apologies! I am the worst. And no, it'll be a specific form on a webpage we build. We'll send an email to eligible founders to let them know when it's live.
When they're ready! ;)
Hey everyone -- Just a quick update that we plan on opening up submission for star names and your name to appear in the special thanks credit on Wednesday, April 2 . We were planning on having star names go live on Thursday, but decided to delay it so that Founders could specify their own names as they'd like them to appear in the credits (rather than just pulling your name as it appears in your Stardock account). This way, Founders who would rather h
Meet the final two leaders who round out the Galactic Civilizations III alpha roster. Just as we've done with D.L. Bradley of the Terrans and Harondin Gaul of the Iridium , we've given the leaders of Galactic Civilizations III's major factions their own backstories and traits as a step toward infusing the game with as much flavor and personality as we can fit into it. With the al
You guys are all way too nice :) I'd offer a time for the game to be available, but it's not 100% under our control so I don't want to promise anything. You can be sure our plan is to be in the office for launch in case anything dumb happens, though. And just to calm some fears, the team is aware of the feedback on the "swimming" ships do as they move straight north. Making that more attractive is something that's being actively considered. Thursday, unless something blows up in testing. They won't be implemented in game for a while yet though.
Haha, I literally just came here to say "don't put too much stock in the planet screen, we're tearing it apart and reworking it pretty much as we speak." But yeah, don't put too much thought into the planet screen. That one is super bonus awesome for missing the texture that should live behind the hex grid, but otherwise it's pretty much what you'll see on Thursday. The final planet screen, however, will be much different and better organized in terms of ho
Check out a full playthrough of the Galactic Civilizations III alpha, edited down to a two-minute narrated video: Questions? Ask ‘em here. I’d give you the save file for turn one to see if you could beat my time to victory, but a) I’m 100% certain someone could and b) it’s from an older build and won’t load in the build Elite Founders are getting access to on Thu
Shift-clicking -- No, but that's an interesting idea. We have some ideas to let players assign production allocations to multiple planets simultaneously, but I'm not sure where dev is on those. They won't be in for alpha, at least. Consuming BC -- No! That idea is abstracted away into the concept of generating wealth directly. So they "cost" 1BC in the sense that that's a production point that could be assigned to wealth that's instead going to manufacturing or res
Yes, it's per-world currently if you want -- there's a checkbox for "use civilization-wide settings" that you can override. My bad on research example, thanks for catching that. Fixing. Also yes, there are a ton of traits that planets can have now. And yeah, they're as good as 50% bonus manufacturing -- that's basically five free factories.
Building a powerful economy is more intuitive in Galactic Civilizations III than in previous titles while still letting players customize their empire’s productivity to the level that hands-on space emperors expect. However, we’ve refined how the basic population input is transformed into manufacturing, research, and wealth outputs. Read on for a detailed breakdown. <img class="no-resize" src="https:/
A very meaty backstory for the Terrans this time around! Very BSG. I do hope that their tech tree and play style won't be too hostile in sandbox mode, however.
Ultimately a Mormegil question of course, but it's not like the Terrans are less-hairy Drengin in GC3 or anything.
I blame myself for the DA/DL thing. Anyway, it's D.L., good catch everyone, moving on!
Dark days are upon the besieged inhabitants of Sol III . However, an incandescent explosion of hope returns to Earth in the form of
There will be more :) I plan on releasing all of them as journals.
Infusing Galactic Civilizations III, its universe, and its people with character and atmosphere is absolutely necessary for it to be the landmark title we intend it to be. It's also much harder to do in a 4X game than in a scripted shooter or RPG; we don't have the luxury of a two-minute cutscene explaining motivations, backstories, or
The limited availability of the regular Founder's Edition is coming to a close as we near the launch of the Galactic Civilizations III Founder's Alpha, which will go out exclusively to Elite Founders who purchased the $99 edition. The last day to purchase the $39.99 Founder's Edition is March 2, 2014 . The $99 Elite Founder’s Edition, which includes all expansions and DLC we ever pro
Constructing starbases has long been a key element of any successful space empire in Galactic Civilizations. We’re taking a good look at them for Galactic Civilizations III from both artistic and mechanical perspectives. Starbases are going to be cooler and more strategically interesting in Galactic Civilizations III than ever. <img src="https://stardock.cachefly.net/adam/GalCiv3/j
Next Q&A will be after the new year some time. I'll post a new thread. Or maybe get Ray to do it. Hmm.
