I've been sticking with the classics this past week: Currently playing Birth of the Federation with the excellent Balance of Power mod installed. Am also playing a Shimazu campaign in Shogun Total War (and holy crap, I forgot how tough their starting position can be!). Finally, I've started playing GalCiv 2 again (vanilla version) the last few days. Currently have an Iconian campaign going i

Thanks for the info, guys! Now I just have to decide whether I'll pick up the expansion packs. Okay, that's a stupid question -- I *know* I'll end up getting them sooner or later. [e digicons][/e] I would dearly love to be able to get everything in just one box, though.
Apologies for asking this question (since I know I've seen it before, but I can never remember what the answer is): Is there, at any point, going to be a full bundled version (DL, DA, & TA) released here in the U.S. that will be available as a phyical copy? And/or will there be the same for the expansion bundle (DA & TA) at some point in the future? I know there's the digital download available for both, but I always really like to have a physical dis
Quoting Aractain, reply 2I think you will find it sells far far far more than you think lol. EA knows how to sell crap, literaly. Yeah, I'll honestly be suprised if it sells less then a million copies. Most buyers of such a game don't care about it's DRM. Not because it doesn't inconvience them, but because they're either ignorant about it or don't know the alternatives.
Cool. Can't wait til November when the new fantasy strategy game is (hopefully) announced! [e digicons]B)[/e]
Does Stardock really sell Galciv 2 merchandise?
Yes they do -- or at least they used to. Stardock sold T-shirts with symbols of the original 10 races in front, and on the backs of the shirts they say "www.galciv2.com". The "good" races's T-shirts were white, the "neutral" races' shirts were gray, and the "evil" races' shirt were black. I personally ordered an Iconian and a Yor shirt; I still wea
Red Alert 3 will have 5 activations : wow ! ... (I have an unused key for the RA3 beta : anyone wants it ?)
Yeah, I'm pretty pissed about that. I'd actually preordered RA3 -- something I *never* do -- but I cancelled it upon reading that it was shipping with SecuROM. As badly as I want the game, I refuse to support publishers that include invasive/restrictive protection schemes with their products. Incide
innociv : Yeah, I just read about that earlier. I'm pissed off beyond belief, as I'd really been looking forward to getting Red Alert 3. No longer, however. [e digicons]>:([/e]
I concur. Those two questions didn't really apply to me either, but I ended up choosing an answer for them anyway so I could complete the survey. I didn't want to skew the results, but I was left with little choice.
Well back in my heyday (between 5-9 years ago), I was easily playing over 30 hours a week, all on my PC. Now, however, I'd say I'm down to around maybe half that.
What I don't quite understand is that Mike has been working on the game for a long time as a personal project, so why is Gamespot showing screenshots of it? Not that I'm complaining, mind you -- I think the guy deserves all the exposure he can get -- but I'm (pleasantly) surprised Gamespot would feature what is, essentially, nothing more than a fan-made game. Still, I congratulate him, and I continue to looking forward to playing the final product. :CONGRAT:
Nine posts and noone mentioned George R R Martin!?
Ugh, no. The books are bad enough. With respect to you and the rest of his fans, I can't stand his writing.
A TV-series by HBO is in the works. One season for each book.
Words cannot possibly express how appalled I am to hear this, especially seeing how there are so many better authors out there who actually deserve to have their work translated to the small/large screen. :(
Just got back from seeing it a couple hours ago, and all I can say is: Wow. Of course Ledger's portrayal of the maniacally genius Joker was nothing short of outstanding, but I think a big "kudos!" has to go out to the main cast all around. Morgan Freeman, Michael Cane, and Gary Oldman really stepped up, and I felt that Aaron Eckhart put in an especially fine performance as Harvey Dent. This movie did almost everything right: The action scenes & cinematography was top-not
Uff da. I don't think I can choose one favorite. For me, it would be a four-way tie between Asimov, Stephen R. Lawhead, Steven Pressfield, and Tolkien.
EA simply doesn't care for their customers and they only care about money, which makes them bastards. EA should look at how Stardock treats customers and then they could learn that the customer is very important unlike the money. First off, I admit I'll miss his antics, if only for their sheer entertainment value.
As much as I think Jack is full of crap I am concerned that the next nut that takes up his 'cause" may be more compitent and that could be bad for all us gamers.
Well said, Chip5541. Yeah, I love Dave Kosak. A very funny man, is he.
From the few reviews I've seen of the game, my impression is that Diplomacy (by Paradox Interactive) is actually pretty awful. Gamespy [link="http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/diplomacy-2005/665958p1.html"]gave it only a half-star[/link] -- the first time they've ever rated a game that low.
