I was wondering with Modding/xml can you create a predefined team? For example I would like to create a set of pirate factions, which act as a team. If no, this would be a nice feature for factionDefs.xml
On the other side of the coin, does the system dynamically generate Major races from Background images/icons when it needs more?
Ok, thanks. I am trying to come up with a method to visually identify minor ravces. The reason is when an AI opens trade, you never see if minor/major, and at my old age, it's hard to remember which are which. Yeah - would of helped. Though the faction is now left with only ships.... wanted to make sure that they paid for it....
So funny, first game this has happened to me, attacked a world with Ideology - Venerable.... On insane map - every faction just declared war against me... Guess I can clear out those pesky planets near me now...
There are a lot of logos out there, I like starwars, but have no idea what the race logos look like. If you want to search and find a few images I can TRY and convert them. Np, one thing I will note is I did not install steam in default location, my steam install is under c:/games/steam/ Though user info is in default location.
I would also note for the leaderFG image, do not put them along the sides/edges as some clipping/shading occurs, I would put them 1/8 of the way from a side (at least) - if you don't center the image. Also try to uniquely name your images, that way no overlap will occur. I also swap the leader image (if they are on a side) as sometimes with different backgrounds may want it on the other side. Downloaded the viewer. I modified the ./config/Settings.xml to point to my install locations. I also modified the location of my mods folder, When I run it, I can view existing tech trees. But when I go Mods -> clone a tech tree it tells me to "check paths or create a mod folder". Well from a development point, sometimes it's easier if your make large (or major) changes to just start new than try to retrofit changes in.

Often I get requests from the AI civs asking for some piece of Tech I have, and threaten me when I don't give it to them even though I have a lot more faction power. You would think that if I am stronger than you, one wouldn't threaten you. "your going to regret this...." lol A better text which could easily be determined (if I am more powerful than the AI asking) is "I thought it would be a nice gesture" or something to that extent.
It would be nice if you could look at a carrier (and fleet) and determine the number of active(ready) drones. After combat it's hard to determine how many drones got killed, and how long I need to wait before replenishing is complete or I can engage another target.
If you queue up construcutors before selecting starbase expansions, they won't get used for the starbase unless you manually move them to the said starbase. Which I believe then cancels any the starbase actually queued up. If you park a constructor in a starbase orbit, then select starbase expansion it uses the constructor in orbit.

I've been playing insane lately, i7 4790k, with 32GB ram and I definitely notice a difference. When I first started playing I only had 16Gb ram and it killed my machine, so I upgraded and it runs much better now, still see lag hit on larger maps though. When looking at my performance - GC3 client often takes about 25GB of ram, with the remaining ram being used (or on standby).
