) For some unknown reason, neither EA/Gamestop/Activision/etcc decide to swoop in and buy Steam even if its JUST to get a 60 million account user base. Note THIS assumption is really really unlikely. Companies buy other companies to buy 'customers' all the time. If someone could buy up the #1 PC user base for a fire sale, they'd be stupid not to.
I think Brad said GameStop is already gone.

Big difference. Maybe it could be done with the resolution you are using, but it might be rather poor on smaller resolutions.

If by that you mean clicking on the colony list taking me to the colony screen then closing the colony screen to see where it is then clicking on the colony to see if i want to do something with it once i have received the missing information that

Joeball123, I agree with you about the tactical combat. It won't affect whether I by the game (I already have) or whether I enjoy the game, but it would certainly add to my enjoyment. Part of this is that I like to play long games, the maximum sized galaxy with lots of habitable planets, etc., and I like to set the victory conditions for conquest only. Having tactical combat would add intermittent changes in play, making the game more fun.

The Influence boarders are part of what goes into influence victories. If you build up a high amount of influence over much of the galaxy, you can win an influence victory. I don't remember what percentage of the galaxy it takes, but I think it is up in the 80s or 90s. I hope someone can find where the different types of victories are explained. It should be in one of the databanks. The hows and whys of each should be illuminating reading.
Oh, WOW. Is this discussion getting philosophical fast. I can remember lots of articles on the mechanisms of earth that minimize heat loss into space, so I suppose the idea that heat gets propagated into space has to be a given. That said, I have seen a lot of scientific misinformation that so many of us have unknowingly learned get propagated, so I think we all have to be very careful about the credibility of the source of our

I can see it now. "You have just exhausted all of the approval resources you were mining. All of your planets' morale has dropped below 30 and they are all at risk of rebelling."

I am merely boiling the statement down to its roots. I am noticing that Brad is saying that there will be no fleet battles in GC3 that look or feel like the MOO2 fleet battles. I am taking that statement very, very literally, and recognizing that he is not saying "there will be no tactical combat in GC3, but saying "there will be no MOO2 like tactical combat in GC3". Other comments about MOO2: MOO2 was turn based, not real time. Also, I remember a lot of controversy ove

That is a really difficult question for me to answer. I guess I could use my name. Or maybe "pot-o-gold". Or "streets paved with gold", or "crock-pot", or ...... Maybe I will just have to surprise myself (and everyone else).
If not for anything else, I would think fighters would be very handy for ground support actions when invading a planet. A lot less mass destruction than orbital bombardment by large capital ships, which means less collateral damage and fewer friendly fire incidents.
Sounds good if you include the need for fighters to be designed for both space and atmospheric use. For an example, look at the Star Wars series. The books
