Wow... that fits with GalCiv perfectly. I like it! I just hope there will be a way that you can make a certain ship always have a certain role. Like if you make a support ship that gives weapons bonuses and increased warp speed, it will hang back, and try to avoid the fray, while the big bad dreadnought will go right into the thick of it. Basically be able to setup behavior profiles for each ship which will be applied to them automagically when
Yes, it is an interesting question, but there are too many variables even after we get the final code (without all of the debug stuff). Variables like the GPU and any assist it can provide, and how effective that assist is to either AMD or Intel come to mind. I can well imagine that there are partnering tradeoffs to consider. Add to that the way GeForce keeps trying to improve their game performance by providing game settings that match their GPUs. (Do other GPU manufacturers do that too?)</p

As with any forum, you are going to see people making statements in such absolute terms in ways that make them sound like they are StarDock employees that you have to take their statements with a grain (or more) of salt. This time, since StarDock has told us that GC3 is being re-written from the ground up with a brand new custom engine, and has mentioned that some of the things that were hard coded in GC2 are going to be in XML in GC3 (including the random events), Willy is most likely very a

I see the problem. He is using MS Visual Studio, which can see everything, including misspellings in comments, which it decided to comment about by lancing the comment, but hit his home instead due to a bug in Visual Studio caused by someone at MS misspelling "function" as "fucntion" in a comment of their own (MS loves to include bugs in its products). The screenshot showing one queue was in the PC Gamer article, and the last time this came up Stardock didn't say anything to refute it. So that seems fairly concrete to me, unless they change their mi
Ironically, performance will probably be really really good. The new engine is a little over an order of magnitude faster than Kumquat (the Elemental engine) which in turn was a lot faster than the Pear engine (GalCiv II). It's a multicore engine so the one thing that will probably go well is perf. Stability...on the other hand. That remains to be seen.
Wow, Brad. That says even greater things

Before this gets into another heated discussion, let me say that my questions have been answered. I can see that each MP method has its own advantages and disadvantages and their own requirements. Thanks for your explanations.
I have never used "hotseat" or any other form of multiplayer. The game descriptions of the MP for GC3 under the "games" tab above describes the MP for GC3 as being "asynchronous". So the question is: does hotseat allow asynchronous MP? A corollary question, if the answer to the first question is no, is: Isn't asynchronous MP better?

Another thing to remember, quite often, security programs may not mix well (keyword, "may"). Some security programs put hooks into the operating system. Any two such security programs can, and usually will, cause severe performance penalties if installed together. And some such security programs require special procedures to uninstall them completely. Different security programs check for different things.
