Expanding the pirate system: Giving their leaders a face is my preference too. With limited diplomacy options. Perhaps you can pay them off for a limited time or pay them to attack someone, but you can't ally with them. Any chance of finally getting steam to allow shipsets with races, so we can download complete races? Who do we have to call kill ? I thought this was going to be a temporary thing, but as it stands the workshop is a bit chaotic for downloading custom races with shipsets.

Purchased :) surprised but happy to see this as the first race but VERY happy to see a new faction ability in there, that's what will make or break these race mods to come, different ways of playing the game and different styles of opponent to play against. When adding additional shipsets, in the dropdown box to select them when customizing a race, eventually it goes off the screen. It needs a scroll bar. Not poked around in the files since beta but is it not possible to just make the penalty much higher to relations across the board, so all races suffer high penalties with ships in each others territories, of course that'd mean more war but :) Further for general use, a racial trait would be nice in that regard, so races that we wanted it on could have further customization from the norm.

This is great I had imagined myself making something like this as a mod when I first heard about the game. However can you please add some negative traits as well, I know you've said not having a bonus is a negative, but for those races we'd like to make skewed to one extreme or the other it'd really help, thanks for all the work.

Here are some other ideas of popular ones people might well make: Aliens Dr Who Dune Farscape Wingcommander Firefly I am guessing some of the factions in these could be minors if you wanted the full package of major/minors, to help really flesh out the mod :) Browncoats minors for example would be awesome from firefly.

What you are both saying is you've found one strategy the AI needs to counter? (Starbases aside) I am not sure how you'd address it but logistics, capacity and miniaturization vs the AI is very effective then? Perhaps the AI can try to move around your fleet more and strike in multiple places if you build one super fleet? I haven't tried this strategy but I expect others will or have to come up with some counter ideas.

Pirate bases! Great stuff :) Thanks for all the effort on the AI and the fixes. Never really liked the surrender mechanics myself always seemed too absolute and almost cheating I felt. I personally have no problem with an AI cheating. All I want is a fun game. Sure try to make it smart and play to its advantages, rather than just throwing bonuses at it but at the end of the day, whatever makes it a fun game. Thanks for getting stuck in to it!

I think some period of transition would be preferred, as them going from instantly rebellious to instantly happy, shouldn't be the case either. Maybe a potential happiness number and an actual happiness number that drifts towards it slowly? It wouldn't add much, unless it was a slow drift as then you'd notice it.

There is always a huge back and forth about this :) I am in the camp that like upgrading their starbases into bigger and bigger constructions personally, I like the AOE effect and I like the idea of having a military starbase worth something for example that's tough to fight one on one. That said I am fine with increasing cost and making them worth more proportionally. Also diminishing returns makes a lot of sense if they are all clustered together.

All in all I love a lot of what they have done, fantastic work on custom races, and I put this in another thread but just to make sure it's seen. A color palette would be ideal for all of these, as would a button to import pictures, and a tooltip to tell you their format and size requirements. The map theme colors custom races use are an actual problem too, as there isn't enough to pick from. Territory could blur together very easily with several custom rac

It's the custom race's map colors that bother me a fair bit, as there simply isn't enough of them in the drop down menu to distinguish races. That's the biggest thing that jumped out at me at a quick glance. A custom palette for all options would be great. I do like that themes have been made, that was nice work, but selecting our own should be possible as well.

Did the war mechanics change in a patch? I am waiting for beta 5 to restart a game and haven't played for a bit. If not what's stopping you declaring war? Just go into diplomacy with that race, then declare war. If it's a UP resolution which I haven't seen yet, can you leave the UP if you want total control yet (also not something i've done yet). It's a beta however, so the game certainly has issues, and will continue to have
