I'm unsure if this game is a month away from an acceptable release. It seems like SK is closer to being finished than GalCiv3 at this point. I'm not saying at all that this game is bad- the core is solid, but I really feel like SK should be the game coming out May 14th, and GalCiv3 should have been the one pushed back to summer. Core features wise, I think it's ready- but it's a bit too rough around the edges. &

Same with the crackly sound, dislike it. Performance wise- game seems to run more sluggishly than the previous beta. Unsure why, maybe the optimization changes?
It's a shame the game is only getting serious A.I development for a month.I suppose great A.I does not improve sales very much.
The AI will get tons of work post-release, and the AI had work before release. Stardock AI is consider one of their strong points- the GalCiv II AI ended up really good for the most part.
Idea, though may not be doable. Terraforming tech more expensive, but auto-unlocks the tiles? Might need to be a more variable tech cost based on size of empire than other techs.
This has been an issue with previous Stardock games as well, particularly the Elemental series, but this is the first time I've seen it with GalCiv3. You close the program, the executable does not close, Steam records it as gametime and shows you as playing it for hours and hours. Seems to occur more after longer play sessions.
I sent info. However, this condition was solved by starting a new game. It was not a repeatable bug.
started game, realized I picked wrong size galaxy- immediately went to main screen to start new game with bigger galaxy. Started that game, got a black screen for the map and minimap, though the UI was normal.
Whenever certain popups happen, such as exit game, there is a garbling of the screen for a second. I'm thinking this may be an intended effect, but it makes me think my laptop's screen is acting funny for a bit with static, so it's something I'd like to see removed. Not listing as a bug because I think it's intentional (but it is an annoying graphical effect)
Or maybe they shouldn't stack period- it doesn't make sense for them to stack.
What I get from this is normal AI= Challenging AI from before. Don't see the problem, outside of maybe confusing vets of the series who aren't paying attention to this, and think Challenging is the fair level. I really do wish Stardock made AI that would adapt most of the time to what a player likes to go for.
The downside to whales is that tend to play only one game. As for 4x strategy games, the traditional model works best for them. I remember many (10+) years ago on here, Brad saying that one reason Stardock went into strategy games was because the folks who bought them tended to buy their games at higher prices and were more affluent. The market has changed considerably since them, since PC gaming has become a lot more popular and open to many more powe
The complaints are coming from the folks who paid $45, not the founders. They're not getting the additional stuff. This isn't the first $25 sale either. I expect for $100 we'll receive around $200 of content if bought at full-price, so we'll come out ahead with a sale. If you're spending $100 on a game, you pretty much have damn good faith in it. That's getting near territory people paid for Neo-Geo games in the late

Even the pledge rewards aren't guaranteed. This is why my rules for Kickstarter are never invest money I don't mind losing unless I trust the developer implicitly (such as the Skullgirls kickstart or At the Gates- two devs who had good track records)
If you manage to beat another race to a planet, their colony ship tends to hang around in sorrow for a few turns, like it doesn't know what to do. There probably needs to be an AI check that if a planet you are seeking to colonize gets colonized by someone else, you send the colony ship somewhere else immediately, or convert it to a transport and declare war if you're inclined and able to do so.
Well we should be getting Beta 3 this week, since they want it out this month, and Stardock starts their Christmas break on Friday.
Well, this is a game that can use a lot of RAM and was designed to do so. Also, Stardock probably hasn't gotten around to optimization yet- a lot of Stardock games have memory leaks in beta that start getting whittled down towards and after release.
Steam does make a decent IM client. If you play on the same account, and one is offline, I think that works. Family sharing is probably different, and I can see why you wouldn't want you kid using your account.
Am I the only one who finds it a bit annoying? I do appreciate that there is a sound, and maybe any sound would be annoying eventually. I wonder if having more sounds and playing a random one at the end of turns might help here.
I think the AI should remember how you play from game to game, and then try to counter it sometimes, but not always.
Quoting Alstein, reply 14 I don't see how something being mod tools means it shouldn't be given in the base game- it's more options for folks who don't mod. Not everyone wants to download and install mods, and LH is less mod-friendly on the insta
I like the idea of being able to craft spells as well.
I"d be in favor of such, maybe as a secret opening game event- so you don't know if the minors can expand like majors or not.
I believe what happened will be or is already mentioned in the game.
I'll try to overnight this weekend if it pops up again.
