Updated.
I officially start full time on GalCiv III on November 28.
I better not hear any whining about the AI getting "too hard". You'll have to turn down your settings, I ain't going to wimp it out because people used to beat it at higher levels.
No whining here...
We'll see. Just remember. Every time I get onto one of these things and beef up the AI, someone complains saying the AI is cheating to beat them. AI cheating requires work on my part. I don't like working. It gives me wrinkles. Humans are terrible at strategy games.
As far as the AI is concerned, you humans are, frankly, a distraction.
Having done a cursory look at the AI in GalCiv III as it is today, I won't criticize engineers who worked on it. The problem with humans trying to program AI is that they try to implement strategies as if the AI were people. That's the wrong way to do AI in these games. AI's win because they're not lazy and stupid like you humans are. You guys make so many mistakes every turn and a good game AI should deal with that.
My beef with the GalCiv III AI is that it is actually trying to provide some sort of...I dunno, entertainment experience. I realize that there's a lot of articles out there saying that that is what AI is there fore. My view is that people should just go play those games if that's what they want. I wrote the original GalCiv in order to have an AI. The only reason I let people play the damn game at all is because I need your money for my work.
