Are there plans to take a look at combat related things before the stand alone expansion?
Probably not. Our main focus is to make the empire part of the game more engaging.
Just to be sure: There are two aspects to my question:
One would be minor stuff like the 2000% (not a typo) attack speed stack with missile weapons (which existed for as long as I can remember (and I am not the first to make a thread about this)) and the not working shield leech ship components. See:
https://forums.galciv3.com/474590/page/2/#3640660 (there apparently exists a ticket for this for months now)
https://forums.galciv3.com/477757/page/1/#3637827
Little note on the attack speed stack: a possible workaround would be to just convert the 50% attack speed boost into something else (e.g. damage).
Which brings us to the other aspect, bigger things: In the second link I touch on the balancing of thread/fortitude/value parameters, and all the things potentially similar to the 2000% AS stack.
Apart from that there would still be the question of ship roles, which often boils down to escort+capital.
And there is the question I didn't ask: Are there plans to look into these for the standalone expansion, where big things are supposed to happen
