Thanks. I struggle with tiny ships though, In Gal Civ 2 I made some pretty neat Macross rip-off fighters, but I just haven't been able to make a nice looking one in GC3.

No need. More (sister classes to the Gun Slinger and others) coming up. At the moment they are not yet polished enough. The dread of getting timing of animations right.

mmeh, I feel like I could make better fighters with some smoother and simpler shapes, but most small components are quite intricate.

It'd be awesome if you could animate ships with keyframes, and determin when and why they play, like for firing you could have a recoiling cannon barrel, for turning you could have thrusters that fire, engines that tilt and move. Because then I really could make macross rip-off verifighters

Try re-naming the files. I know of at least 3 others that are having this problem. I had this happen to me right after the 0.51 update. I had to delete ALL my custom ship and start over from scratch. Nasty and myself have reported this and Stardock is at a loss as to why this keeps happening,

Nasty says the solution is to re-name the files. I have not tried this.

Edit: I am going to trying removing functional parts, rename it and upload the files. Will post a download link here as an Edit.

I hope this works! If it does then I know where the problem is. Let me know if ship shows up in shipyard and I'll tell you why they don't if my hypothesis is correct.

Whether this is a bug or by design i do not know, but in everything the game saves (game saves, ship designs, component designs) the "External attributes" property of the "Central Directory" key in both block 2 and block 3 is not initialized and default to (4 byte integer with the value of) -1. This results in that the internal data is seen as a volume image instead of a file; even while in block 0 and block 1 those blocks are stored with a "Local File Header" type .

These observations might have nothing to do with the actual problem, but they are there nevertheless.

No, its not the custom parts, it's functional parts causing this. This proves my hypotheses. I have sent ships to other people that had no custom made ship parts at all and yet still did not show up in ship designers or shipyards menu's. I am not a programmer but it would appear to me there is a bug with functional ship parts... weapons. armor, engines, ect,ect... Seems we cannot share files of fully equipped ships. Yes this is indeed a bug.

Until Stardock fixes this flaw do not share ship files of fully equipped custom ship designs if your having a problem with ships not showing up in shipyards and ship designer.

Hey All Thecw hit on renaming ships Omnibus sent his battleship to me that show up in the designer but had no thumbnail Which would not show up when click on.

I ask him to change something minor rename it and send it to me. which he did and the ship now show up in the designer and is usable. Also to note this ship Has

no equipped parts it is strip down ship. just a Hull so to speck.

So Thecw and Rand it`s got something to do with the the designer is saving changes to a ship already named. I thing maybe you should give a ship a wip name till it`s complete the name it what you want it to be name.

Rand Please try this with the two fighters I ask you for they don`t show up in the designer at all.

 

I like to Thank every one that has sent me ships. And ALL that have made ships.

 Please if there are any comments or Ideals chime in!

Nastytang but there is one problem with that theory.  All my ships are resaved and completely armed, yet you have no issues using them, oh and they are full of custom parts "turrets".

This is why I asked! Omnibus Battleship had no Arms no Shields NO Added Engines or Life support. it was just a Hull. The game Kind of saw it but could not build

it. there was no thumbnail. He just change something minor. re name it and it show up and works now. I think if you try to use the same name the game think

there are no changes and does not save it right. but it still show up OK on the Builders PC. What Rands is saying is that one or more of the working Parts may not

be saving right when you add all those Parts. which I think is another Problem because the game does not show the ships at all.By changing a part remove or add 

and renaming the ship the game goes threw the ship and add the parts to the file under new name and then should work.This is why I ask Rand to do this to the

two fighters to see if this works.  All of EDs ships work for me  3 of the 8 fighters that Rand sent me work. and now all of Omnibus ships work after he did that

minor change and rename. This may only be a work around I don`t know.
