Especially considering, that the original GalCiv was inspired by Civ. Heck, the best way to describe GalCiv to this day is "Civ in space", in
I've been biding my time with GC II, TotA.
Really HAPPY I'll finally get to see all the shiny goodies we've gotten looks at on the devstreams, AND a week before I was expecting it. Now, what will really make me extra happy is when we finally get the diplomacy in. But I would rather see that start in awesome mode than just get something imperfect.
I still think it's a sad day, because I liked having an altenative to Steam in case something happened to it. That's not me being anti-Steam, though I was when I was younger due to not liking how slow Steam is (and it's still clunky to me compared to Impulse)
Yeah! I was really disappointed when Stardock sold Impulse. For me, it was the best system ever developed.
Finding a derelict starship that could actually be used should probably only occur in movies.
and maybe in games???
Could the finding of ships be made an option so I can turn it off?
If not, I guess you could always scrap them.
Actually you can name a star for about 60 bucks, and you get a cool stuffed animal to boot. But as charon2112 stated I doubt it would hold much weight to anyone who lived in or near that system.
He did this like 40 years ago. No idea what it really cost him.
"Naming" a star is such a racket. It's like selling someone the brooklyn bridge, the people accepting the money to 'name' your star don't own it. Just head for Sirius, turn left a gazillion miles. Un
But really, that will be a PAIN to see stupid things like "IslandDog" or "Tassadarpaladin"... You realize that IslandDog is the screen name of an employee of Stardock, and does a great job. I cannot see why a name like that cannot be accepted. I'm sure if you donate 1 million dollars to an astronomer a year, he would let you name a star what ever you like and it would be hist

On the surface you'd think it would favor more peaceful players, but what if you threw in variables like military power (and the willingness to use it), proximity, ideological leanings, tech superiority, a
I was just watching the devstream from last week. It sounded like the UP will work similarly to the UP in GC2. I was wondering if any thought has been given to expanding it to include the minor races, at least in a future expansion or a DLC? It could add a whole new dimension to diplomacy and sphere of influence. The way I envision it, the General Assembly could meet on an annual basis, and the Security Council would meet to

I think there's something to be said for each side of the issue, but when it comes down to it, why are we researching the same techs we did in GC1 and GC2? Even if technical know how was lost in a dark age as civilizations crumbled, many techs from the earlier age would still be known and available, even if on a more limited scale. For that matter, the galaxy should be pretty well filled with the major species, who having lost contact with the empires, have forged ahead on their own. It s
I guess I should have said these are just some thoughts I had. In whatever way it develops, it is still one of the best series ever made IMHO.
Thanks, Parrottmath. I was a bit confused on that point.

When colonizing a planet and given a morality decision, the decision should only apply to that colony, not the civ as a whole, except for a small amount (maybe one point) . If the choice is outside the the civ's ideology then the planet would suffer a loyalty penalty and would be more likely to defect to a nearby civ or minor of like ideology, or outright rebel. The more of these colonies there are, the greater the od
