Suggestion re Artifacts/what-not giving away free ships

I swear the game (and GC2) is monitoring my overall ship strength relative to the other positions and when the game decides I'm too "weak", my survey ship just "happens" to find a ship or I colonize a world that can give me one depending on my choices or some other "random" event produces a ship.

Finding a derelict starship that could actually be used should probably only occur in movies.

Could the finding of ships be made an option so I can turn it off?

If not, I guess you could always scrap them.

Right now there are not very many anomalies in the game and so we have a lot of derelict ships showing up. I wouldn't mind seeing this event costing the player some coins to do repairs to the ship, full repair (-$$$) / Cheap (-$) / Salave (+$$). The full repair gives you a better ship like lost defender while the cheap repaired ship would be malfunctioning lost defender or something.

I think when more anomalies are in the game, then these should show up less frequently. But I like choices for anomalies, makes it like a mini-quests in the game.

That would make more sense.

Unfortunately, this particular random event does affect the course of the game or at least felt like it did in GC2.  Finding not one, but two Rangers during the early turns of GC2 games seemed kind of cheap. And it happened enough for me to think of it as other than a random event. For GC2 and actually in testing this game, I don't built combat ships during the early part of the game since they were laying about for the taking.

It would be interesting to see how the presentation of artifact "stuff" is actually generated internally code-wise.

Meh, the game is so very alpha that all these events feel like placeholders.

A lot (most) of them do, but the free ship thing changing the game also happened in GC2 way too much IMO.
