We have a discussion going on about what great space battle scenes there are in either a movie or TV show. You have big movies like Star Wars which had a huge space battle in Episode III above Coruscant, and Star Trek had some epic battles in both the movies and TV series. I thought it would be fun to get a post started and ask our community what they think are some of the best space battles and why. If you have a YouTube clip or specific movie/episode, be sure to include

If you have the time, I'd also suggest watching some of the dev livestreams. :) https://forums.galciv3.com/454038/page/1/
We've updated the tentative schedule! Check the original post for the updated info. :)
I like how you did a video for this, great way to give feedback.

The Lead Designer on Galactic Civilizations III, Paul Boyer, appears on the latest Quarter to Three Games Podcast with Tom Chick. The topic of discussion is sci-fi and game design. It's a great podcast, so have a list over at Qt3. http://www.quartertothree.com/fp/2014/05/01/qt3-games-podcast-sci-fi/
Yes, remember this is a tentative schedule that was posted, and things come up and change during that time. :)
We love our fans. We love websites. So both of them together is like peanut butter and chocolate or something. :) We have resources for those individuals who would like to create a fan site based on Galactic Civilizations III. The fan site packet can be downloaded here: http://galciv3.com/game/fan-sites There are images and other resources available there, but I wanted to reach out and ask if the

I want to use my screen name, (as more people online know me by it) but I don't want it to look out of place if they are all real names.
It's a varied mix. Some are using their real names, first name with screenname, etc.
Lead Designer for GC3, Paul Boyer, was on the Three Moves Ahead podcast where the obvious topic of discussion was Galactic Civilizations III. "In our 2^8 episode, Rob and Troy talk about Galactic Civilizations 3 with lead designer Paul Boyer. Paul explains the goals of the alpha and what early backers can expect at this stage of development as well as future builds. Rob and Troy rattle off a few items from their wishlist and both of them are wrong once again about ho
Quoting Island Dog, reply 78 We're going to be updating the system to allow space/numbers, and allowing people to submit an edit to their name. It probably won't be until next week as we have to get the system in place. Has this been updated yet?
It should be up early next week.
This is the on demand link for the video from Twitch. http://www.twitch.tv/stardock/b/518973768
Quoting chuckjaywalk, reply 267 I went with Newton. It is my son's name and there is the obvious astronomical significance. Good choice. Does anyone know when the star naming ends? I still can't think of what to name mine.
It will end when the beta starts. You have time, but don't wait until the last minute. ;)
Are you also going through the official names? I'm only asking because the planet-name Po, from the Altarian homesystem, means "butt" in German.
A word like that has several meanings. I'm sure if we dig enough we can find lots of words that have "colorful" definitions in other languages.
