I build on all planets. Because again, I don't want to waste the military production. And what else are you going to build...factories? To manufacture what?

I never killed a single DL battleship the whole time I played. I let the Drengin do it. (I did kill a DL fighter or two, though). I let the DL's roam my sectors with impunity all they wanted. It's the transports I wanted dead. My military brawn primarily went toward the Yor and the Drengin. And even then, I ignored their fleets--the Drengin only had a speed of 2. By the time I won, I had speed 11 military transports. Just take down the pl
On the low-end ships I aim for 1 defense. First reason is, one deflector is cheaper than 2 lasers. That can mean one less turn of production time on some planets. Second, what's the square root of 1? 1. So deflectors work on all weapon types.
The white borders are probably when you have a ship selected, am I right? That's your ship's life support range.
I've had that same bug, where the shipyard won't change ships. The workaround I've been doing is to select a ship, then click "purchass" and then "cancel". That works.
Losing an invasion isn't always a curse. You can use mass drivers to wear them down and the PQ won't lower.
I got that, too. It wasn't that much population, though, so I blew it off. This reminds me of the GalcivI bug with when you could use Information warfare and get 333 billion people after you successfully invaded. Morale on that one planet was crap, but it sure was nice building lots of colony ships to populate everyone else with. <img src="h
I usually wait. Land-grabbing the other star systems is the priority. Although, you can design your own colony ship and slap on an extra hyperdrive, which can render your initial colony ship obsolete. You can also design a cheapo colony ship with no life support or hyperdrive, which you can colonize Mars with.
I don't know what exactly gets tougher on tough (I'm on normal), but I'm building some big sensor ships...cargo hulls...and some small, fast fighters with 1 laser. And I just research up the engine line to Warp drive. The sensor ships spot what the DL's are doing, and the fighters intercept any transports. It's tough & monotonous, scouting the northern route & trying not to piss off any DL ships, and sometimes the fighters have to go on kamikaze m
My impression of the game is also that it's buggy. I've played other games--well okay, lots of other games--and this is simply significantly buggier than average. It's not the worst I've ever seen, though--Morrowind for Xbox was worse. "Real War" was pretty bad, too, oh my gosh. Based on what I'm reading in the forum, others are reporting lots of bugs, too. My impression is Stardock is attempting a different kind of business model, w
I built SB's in my home sector and they got killed.
Looks like I'm going to win this scenario my first try. This is on Normal. I can't get the DL ships to follow me, though. I don't understand how others can, either, because the ships move faster than their sensor range. I try and stay just out of their movement range, but they won't follow me. Anyway, I decided to avoid direct confrontat
I'm in the middle of that DL scenario right now and the DL have pretty much blown away all my starbases. I'm surviving by building mega-sensor ships...cargo hull, 14 sensor, twin engines. So I hope I see what's coming. Then if transports come along, I've got a few fast fighters who hopefully can flank the battleships and take out the transports. <br
You had to nerf the farms?
I have accidentally ended my turn twice now. The Turn button is too close to the radar screen. I intended to click on the southeast corner of the radar screen and instead ended my turn, and lost a colony because of it.
I don't know how pop growth works, but I have definitely had more pop growth when I had the +70% bonus. So much so that I had real problems putting my farms up on time.
