strangely enough I couldn't care less what the aliens think, I personally as a Human would like my time counted in a fashion that I can relate to. All we are asking for is the option to do this, we don't need the dev's to mess up your game, nor does it seem likely to take up very much time to implement such a change. I don't very much care if you want to argue a semantics with me or call the argument asinine, It's a game, I love i

Oh, to the previous poster, I quite agree that it's a semantics thing, and yeah some techs will take an ungodly amount of "time" to finish, but hey, I just finished Doom Ray research in eight weeks, I'd rather it had taken eight years. Perhaps the lovely, wonderful, kind and generous Dev's (who hopefully aren't above flattery) could simply give us the option of choosing our own time/people scale in a menu some where?
I heartily agree, it's a superb idea which effects no one negatively, Why shouldn't ships take ages to cross the Gulf of space? Even if you changed a turn to years I think that would be even better. That way you would need very advanced technology to go from system to system within a year. That's still many times the speed of light. It also means that games would feel much more epic, as the man said it's very deflating for the game to
What? I NEVER play with an economy bonus, and I've never had a problem with cramming a world with Industry. It stands to reason, just like real life you have to pay to maintain factories and pay moreto use them. Just use the sliders to chose how much to pour into manufacturing.
Hi Just to say I loved Dano13's comments on page 2 regarding deep espionage, simple to put into the game, and should add a nice bit of depth!
A little interface to have random (or pre-assigned) individual names added to the players ships to add a touch of colour to proccedings, preferably keeping the Format of "ship class" "ship name" if that doesn't mess up the UI. Anything costing several BC should have a name not a number!
Seconded, there are plenty of little niggles, but this isn't a game like X3 or boiling point, the Guys and Gals at Stardock HQ allways come up with the goods and don't ship rubbish. I expect most of the niggles will be fixed withinn weeks!
hmmm with all due respect..... are you seriously comparing Advance Wars (good though it is) to Gal civ2? I'd wager that even putting aside proccesing power the task of making the UI work on that machine would make frog boys brain melt, without a touch screen playing the game would take years. Mind you I'd love a version of GalCiv on a mobile device without having to stump up the costs for an OQO,
Just an idea (not in the beta so apologies if this is already possible) Could we have a system where I could type in a huge list of posible names for individual ships that the game could then autoassign for me. So to use the Iain M Banks culture universe, I could create a class of ships Called the ROU "pyscopath class" then the game would automatically give each ship of that class a unique name from my pre defined
Hi guys, I'd like to order GalCivII now, It says it accepts paypal but i can't find any way to use it in the checkout process any ideas?
Just a note to say thanks to you all I'm also a M002 vet, but not anymore. UNBELIEVABLE SUPPORT, EXCELLENT COMMUNITY and EBZeroMatrix, moo3....don't do it, I waited for years for that game, I felt like commiting suicide It was so bad!!!!! ~SDC~
Just had to agree with sirOscar "TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY. Simply put there is no way a sovereign “nation” allows others to pass through or use its air space without permission or risks the destruction of those units or war. To me this is the BIGGEST glaring over sight this game has. This would open up a lot more diplomatic options as to allow/use the passage of units would require diplomatic agreements. " Not easy to implement in ANY game (escpecially space) but would IMHO be the
I've noticed a few posts complaining that the A.I. planets sometimes defect too easy ( to avoid clean-up time) and that culture bombing is too effective. Could they're not be a simple fix of a political party called the "isolationists" who are a bunch of xeno-phobes, this party stops planets from defecting to you and vice versa. let's face it defections are rare enough in history, anti alien propaganda would be real easy, It would have to knacker your trade thou..... Seems
I'd like lots of "gravy" changes. i.e. not too much that unbalances or over complicates the game. Diplomacy, the ability to add ships into sue for peace treaties ( I sometimes fight wars for resources) The ability to threaten or plead as well would be nice being able to chose from some basic resolution's in united planets would be nice as well, particularly if minor races had a small or block vote, perhaps a little more intimidation and wrangling, how cool would it be
I don't know if anyone else has seen this (so many threads to read) but all the later ships on my copy Rangers, Terror Stars, Pheonix etc are "invisible" they're there but have no graphics, in the queue or in game! I'm probably doing something stupid :( I've got all the patches off SD 1.03.052 and bonus pack.....any ideas guys? ~SDC~
Wow this kicks m003 (not sooo hard) Ideas Would it be possible to copy (steal) the resource trading from Civ3 i.e. Sell you're unique resources to the a.i. for fixed time periods, but not to more than one a.i. at once? I rather liked renaging on contracts in civ Also, could there be a little pop up (yes like in civ3) to let you know if a trade was reasonable, it's hard to remember relative tech values. Maybe some specific espionage "missions" ala Fr
