Good grief, this has been happening since B3. They moved the scale down to fix it but apparently they also moved the ceiling down as well. It doesn't seem like a challenging fix to me. OP should move to support.

" Quintili Vare, legiones redde! “ Yes, this game needs a war weariness factor, and a hegemony factor, at least. There should also be requirements to assist your allies vs just the occasional gift of bc and a few ships (if you are willing). Alliances in this game mean nothing more than you are one step closer to an all

I built 1 sensor buoy @ 30+ in my current immense map game. I could have built more but 1 is enough for me. I didn't know those crystals were so great. I'll have to start going after those bad boys. Are they any good if you don't play ancient? I doubt I'll gather up as many as you. It all sounds way too intense for me. Someone told me they put 14-15 star bases around one planet. Sweet Jesus, what is that all about? <span sty

The same thing happened to me, but they gave me credit for a Terran win instead of a custom faction. The custom faction was created in game and the only thing Terran about it was the tech tree. I chose the Terran tree instead of a generic tree, if that could be the reason. I haven't bothered with it because it doesn't matter that much. It was just a small map influence victory testing my custom races and the new influence balancing. I think my score was 4, so it was no big dea

Well, if they change it they change it, but no one has the right to declare what is fun and what is not. For all we know the AI can see the entire map on any level. There is some evidence they can. If you don't think sensor buoys are fun, don't build them. This is a fox and grapes issue IYAM.

Well, that solves that. In that particular game I had several planets that were not assigned whereas normally all my planets usually sponsor somebody's shipyard. I don't recall ever hearing about that. It makes sense when you think about it, It would have to all go to social if they are not sponsoring. The bar is not very "grayed out". They should have a tool tip for people like me who have to have the obvious explained. :)

Was it on normal when the Yor had 130,000? If so that is spooky, I have never seen an AI with more than a couple of thousand 50 turns in. I two games I have started, I did well in a game with no pirates and I was struggling in a game with rare pirates. I just have a hard time playing my game and tending to business when I have to deal with the pirate menace. Thank god I can turn them off if I can't figure them out soon. I have tried wiping them out early and it completely

In two games I have started, when I try to adjust the planet slider that controls military/social it will not move. The main 3 way slider works okay. I uncheck the global spending box and it is still locked. The only way I can set the social military slider, is to go to the main global sliders and set them where I want the planet to be then click on planets use global settings. Then I go back to the planet and uncheck the global settings box and then go back to the global settings and

That is interesting. I haven't seen that. They are orphans so they can't build transports and populate them. Did you notice if they were sponsored? If they are well sponsored they could turn out a lot of fighting ships right next door. Somehow I doubt the AI is smart enough to even sponsor them. It is a silly tactic any way you look at it.

They can add more if they want to. All I ask i9s that they allow the selection on the map to be completely random. I have noticed that they have obviously skewed the selection of extreme worlds to the high PQ planets. I like to play occasional habitable and it pisses me off no end when the first 3 planets I find are PQ 15 or above extreme planets. It wouldn't bother me near as much if 2 of the 3 were PQ 9 or less. I guess the idea is to make them desirable and encourage a bee-line
The player's relationship with the AI is entirely up to them - there's no need for the player to be able to let the AI know that they're annoyed with them.
I agree that you are right on this. I am sure the AI is not coded to respond to this and I am not sure it could be, even if Brad or somebody wanted to undertake that mission. Well I'm pretty sure it could be coded in but maybe it would not be high priority. I

I saw that they are included in the Wiki as possible future additions. If they are only discarded ideas iy would be good to know.

Frogboy's reply confirms what I have always believed about having the game ready to release. Most of the Founders and many other beta players are experts at the game. Being experts they are great for finding bugs and making great suggestions but they are useless for advice on when or how to release the game. 73% of players are using the beginner setting. That says it all for me. The one thing that new players hate are crashes. That is the only thing that they must minimize
Why does it matter if it is 'released' officially? Will you somehow magically play it any more or less?
I think what concerns those who say it is not ready is that it will get bad reviews and go South. Personally, I am 99% :) certain that they will have it in good shape for release to the general public. IMO all they have to do is eliminate common crashes. I play a lot and I haven't had a cras

Well, some may not have a problem with them, but in a test game I have been playing on a large map (normal) with just the Drengi and common pirates, it took me 150 turns to get them out of my half of the map. It may be partly me. I tend to play a massive force combat game and I only lost about 4 ships to pirates. I was sending over-sized fleets with 4-600 HP to kill them off. I ended the game with an Alliance V just to see the stats. They had been giving the Drengi pure hell. The Dren

I started a game last night with common pirates on a large map, normal, and only the Drengin, since I was more or less just testing. They are quite aggressive on common and they will come after you right into your ZOC, if you are undefended. My strategy, if you can call it that, was to go for military tech earlier than I normally would and build large fleets of tiny and small ships to handle them. They wi

If the custom race is playing Malevolent, I would say they picked up the no flip trait somewhere along the line. You can still get an influence V without flipping them, if that is the issue. I won by influence over the Yor without flipping a single planet. Once your influence overtakes them it is the same as flipping them. You just don't have the planet.

I like all of your suggestions except the influence star base nerf. I play a lot of influence and I am politically opposed to any more influence nerfing. Enough, I say. :) Seriously, any future changes in influence should have map size in the conversation.

I have not played around with the difficulty levels and slow research, but while I don't have great difficulty winning on normal, I have not experienced anything like the success you have had. To be honest, I suspect that you play the game so expertly, your results are not comparable or useful when compared to the average player. :)
