I think the whole trade whore should be a strategy but should come with checks/balanced, you trade a tech soon after you acquire it, and the race you got it from should slap you with a trade embargo, or diplomatic penalty or possibility of war. Those make for consequences which would create depth. In any event it doesn't appear to just affect trade. If you make a trade you can no longer even talk to that race, just declare war. Either I am inaccurate on that or that totally blows. </

Add to that Space Battles and AI build scripst on worlds and you have a starship designer and a galactic empire simulator which might as well be done on a spreadsheet for all

On Insane maps near my starting point when inside the main spiral disc, it appears that the map has a smaller density of stars than on the other areas of the map. I have looked at the map from various angles but I am convinced this is the case in all of the Insane spiral maps I've tried. Is this to give the AI a better head start or just in my mind?

I have no doubt they will patch it. As they also release several expansions packs to compliment the original game, standalone packs and well the history of the series is very good here. The Expansion packs have been very good at adding depth and expanding as they should on the original game. I also do not like the trend of releasing before the product is polished a.k.a. done. But everybody's done meter is different. I think you have to play it without trying to test anything just to note
Perhaps the biggest flaw I've noticed is that the AI has two big issues; it is terrible at forming proper fleets, often sending ships piecemeal to die, and an inability to protect planets from landing forces. Though the latter is likely, at least in part, a symptom of the former.
I agree which makes them a pushover. They need to be a credible threat, not dump a bunch of resources into something that can be picked apar
Another thought just occurred to me. Perhaps this question will better convey my quandary. If I want to play a truly epic, long slow game all summer...am I going about it the wrong way? Now, I don't necessarily want 1000 planets resulting in 40 or 50 planets per faction. No, I really want the biggest to have around 20, with 10 being average. I have 26 factions. The problem I'm running into is meeting other factions much too quickly
Currently on the largest map, with abundant pirates and anomalies. Rare planets with scattered systems. No tech trading on conquest setting. Nearing 3000 turns and getting severe slow down. 1-2 minutes per turn. No contact till turn 800. 7 races and no minor ones. I like a slow paced game. Gave me time to make improvements and discover new tech.
Wha

There is no excuse for the way the AI is at present. You can frame it however you want but it is not good. Repetitive UAC like pestering or sharing the thoughts of what is new to you is old to the rest of us is just SLOPPY. Not WIP coding, SLOPPY. If you play the game you only need an hour or two before that is annoying as F***. Should not have made it into a retail release. It wouldn't have if the release wasn't rushed.

What I'm saying is not how you attempt to frame it. Furthermore I think if you can't handle the feedback from your customers on the forums maybe you need to take a break instead of suggesting I do that when I and others have some issues for you guys to work on with Gal Civ 3. I didn't say you need to acknowledge fundamental flaws, there is nothing game breaking really at this point. Let me say this again. No. Stardock does not need to admit a fundamental pro

I'm amazed as the enlightenment unfolding for the developers here. This is the 3rd installment of the Gal Civ series, and there are numerous issues uncovering every day on here that more than likely would have been id'd and quashed in beta testing if they has actual open beta instead of you pay us $100s to play the alpha and tell us what you love about our design which is so great. LOL. Of course the game review sites are all going to help promote it and of course your own promotion w
