In the real world, diplomatic penalties mean you lose intel, trade, your people get mad, you get phased out of UN resolutions, etc etc. The game doesn't offer all of these nuances, so something else has to be added in to prevent the player from just willy nilly breaking treaties.
I agree with you on that. Current diplomatic relationship is indeed lacking in depth, but it still tr
If you are at the point in the game where you are ready to be at war with every other civ in the game, then either don't sign a non-aggression treaty and just finish the game, or wait a few turns for any you did sign to expire before completing your domination.
You have a valid point, however most of my games were finished before turn 100. Therefore 50 turns of treaty is not exactly what I would call "few". Maybe
I just have to say that this "feature" completely ruins the game for me. I feel like there is no point to whatever I do during a span of hundreds of turns, as with this trick I can achieve everything effortlessly. What´s the fun in this? P.S. And don´t tell me not to use this expl-I mean feature, as I play to win, not to restrict myself.
I think it would be better if players were able to break non-aggression pacts with massive diplomacy penalties. In my opinion, hard limitations like this are unnecessary and problems they are trying to fix can be treated better. Not being able to break non-aggression pact leaves player without fun of making hard decisions. Being put in a place where I have to decide if it's worth to break treaty to swiftly conquer your opponent and having to deal with anger of other nations is more enjoya
Moving on to the rest of the thread, I like the idea of preventing the deal from being cancelled by war for at least a minimum of time. I still support limiting offering ability by current treasury plus expected income, to protect players from accidentally killing their economy. If someone still wants to intentionally game with that, artificially boosting income to have more trading power, fine. But they should be stuck with the fallout as

Since this thread has been moved and getting more attention, I will post similar problem here for convenience. A.I. will trade 50X-1 bc for X bc per turn. At least, he did so in 1.01. Haven't check later versions. So it's like 1 bc interest credit loan.

29 Replies 135,917 Views

But that's my point! A.I. should be smarter. Trading immediate stuff for my "honest" promise to pay up in time is ridiculous. Would it not be better solution to disallow that, instead of introducing made up limitations? Also, don't forget, there is a cooldown of 15 turns on trading, so it's not always possible to trade for the cash ahead of time.

No penalties alone would outweigh buying everything A.I. has. Why will I be scared of war, when no one is a threat anymore? Not to mention, at that point I probably would have won the game through culture. And limiting my offer just because I do not have the money right now just doesn't feel right to me. That's the whole point. You offer someone big amount of money for something you desperately need and then trade with everybody to be able to pay out your debt.

It's already been discussed here https://forums.galciv3.com/466602/page/1/#3557802 and here https://forums.galciv3.com/466443/page/1/#3556919 , and I don't agree with limiting your offer to amount that you earn. In my games I almost always have negative earning, but a lot of money from trading technologies, so this solution will just remove ability to offer credits-per-turn to A.I. for no reason. I believe that I should be able to offer any amount I wish to, It's just that A.

I completely agree with your points and also think that diplomacy exploits should be fixed as soon as possible. Diplomacy for me is the most interesting part of this game and seeing abuses and exploits like this makes me want to just sit and wait for a patch. Also, as I said in my thread about issue #4, I would like to see A.I. not trading anything immediate for something-per-turn. Not just colonies and ships, credits as well. As I discovered recently, you can trade any amount of credits per

I believe there is a misunderstanding. It's not the same issue as in this thread https://forums.galciv3.com/466429/page/1/#3556643 . It's just the case of offering A.I. like 100 000 bc per turn in exchange for his colonies and ships, which he will take gladly. And then declaring a war on him immediately after, breaking the deal in process. So as a result you will be left with everything he had, while not paying him anything. I was playing Yor and Altarians if it matters at all

There is a huge exploit when trading with A.I. A.I. will happily trade all of his empire (except for his homeworld) for a hefty amount of credits per turn. So as of patch 1.01, you can easily win any game by just buying everything from A.I. and then declaring a war (therefore breaking your promise to pay) and killing him with his own ships, while not loosing a single credit. Same goes for offering trading and luxury resources. In my opinion, A.I. should not give anything immed

Have similar problem with sound effects distorting weirdly and quite severely, especially on transitions between game screens. Like colonies or Diplomacy screen.

I have the same problem. I thought I have not enough memory (6 GB), but since you have this problem with 8, maybe I am wrong. Surely 8 GB should be enough. Also, what helped me to somewhat solve this issue was closing Firefox(It's eating a lot of RAM for me). Are you sure your RAM is not massively in use by other programs during your play?

You may want to check out this thread https://forums.galciv3.com/465773/page/1/#3552200 Basically, try to avoid using special characters like periods in the names of your ship designs.

Yet again, thanks for such an informative answer! I will definitely check out this .XML file!

I had the same problem when I was naming my designs with dots in it. Like "I. Pebble" or something... It looks like there is a bug with special characters in names of the designs. So I would suggest to avoid using it if you are.

Thank you for kind answer! I indeed do not have the ability to build anything influential past Cultural Forum in that particular game. I guess it's just a bug. I will create a bug report as you suggested. Also I have updated my first post. So if you a willing to share some information it would be appreciated!

Hello. firstful, I wanted to say thank you for creating this amazing game. I've been enjoying it greatly so far. However, I've noticed few bugs during my play (or maybe i didn't understand some game mechanics). 1) No matter what i tried I was not able to build diplomatic outpost. Even though I have the technology I still lack the option to transform my generic starbase into it. I don't even know if it's separate type of starbases or just upgrade to a cultur
