I've had a few ideas while watching the dev streams over the last few months - don't know if any of these are mod-able, if so great, but if not is there a way I can send them to Stardock for their consideration? 1- Give the game AI the option of breaking up into 2, 3 or 4 different governments if they are losing a war. This would be a different 'option' to simply surrendering to another player (which tbh I find a little boring). Not saying the current surrender option

I see, well it's an interesting problem - as soon as I heard that galciv 3 would support up to 100 players my first thought was what about mini-map colours. Actually thats not true, my first thought was OMG THATS FCUKING IMMENSE!!! - but my second thought was indeed about minimap colours lol how about a mod that stops the same or similar colours being places adjacent to eachother from the start of the game?
Good to know that 6GB will work but yeh I'm definitely going to opt for more.
Thanks Gauntlet03, think I'll get it through Steam when the time comes - can't wait!
Probably a silly question but is there a way of getting the AI players to automatically change colour Mid game if they become adjacent to another player thats colour is the same or similar?
if your buying a computer to play GC3 like I did then to play GC3 you'll need 8GB+ of ram preferably more ( I have 16GB) as 4GB wont cut it and the recommend spec of 6Gb is laughable atm until the game is optimised a lot and if you want to play insane maps get 8-16GB
Thanks for the advice - luckiliy a friend of mine has built several of his own gaming pcs and is lending me a hand to plan out and build mine. That is indeed a great help - thanks! im sure I'll have more questions once I actually get down to the nitty gritty but for now just 2 things - 1- some of the file directories include 'Steam', are you assuming that one would have downloaded the game from Steam, and if so, is this the preferable outlet to download the game from? 2- a question for this and all modding - is there an equivalent to a 'restore to original' for the entire game? It would be
In GalCiv3GlobalDefs.XML, look for 5 , which I expect governs the number of points you have for selecting things like Productive or Fertile, and the 2 , which should govern the number of points you have to spend on things like Zealous or Starfarers. While I have not tried modifying these values myself, I expect
Ah ok, so I cannot mod the UI to allow me to do this but I can manually change it in the XML - that'll do me fine! Thanks guys [e digicons][/e] For a noob I'm picking up the jargon quite well I think lol! Thanks for taking a look at that for me, and I was reading Derek's post just now actually Kiloku - great minds think alike!
Evening all, I've had a flick through some of the previous threads and can't see a definitive answer on this, so apologies if it's already been discussed. So can one do a mod that increases the number of available race trait points? Reason I ask is because I was planning out some of the civilizations Im going t
Thanks for the advice guys, tbh I think I'm getting slightly ahead of myself - probably best to get a PC to play the game on... And then the game itself before I delve into this too deeply! Jeff26jeff - thanks for the welcome and I'll be sure to share any creations I make - I generally like to make my own creations from scratch but I do like to try and recreate alien civilisations from sci-fi
Hi ladles and gentlespoons, Im a long time fan of galciv and I'm looking forward to getting the game soon (in truth, I'm looking forward to getting the PC in order to look forward to getting the game, but that's another story!). I've been checking out the ability to mod the game with a lot of interest, however, I am a complete modding/coding noob - I literally know next to nothing about it. </
