Hey, now mods are working for me I see I really like yours! I'm not doing the Elcor or Batarians, so when my mod for Quarian and Turian ship styles (or maybe just factions) I'll leave a link to here so people can have both race sets and mix and match them :3 The Batarians are the best I've seen, I like their species already but other people's attempts at them have had like... Blue and purple colour schemes or nonsensical faction traits.

Yeah I know, I'll correct it at some point xP I'm just happy my game suddenly accepted all mods at the same time. MIGHT be after I validated my game cache but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth :D
Ah, thanks a lot Mohobie. Buuuut it's weird... I just opened Gal Civ 3, figured I might have a game mods or not... I get a message about a duplicate faction, which I can undo myself just by renaming my Quarians. I go 'New Game' and all the custom factions are right there! I don't know if I wasted people's time or not... Technically I didn't FIX it with an idiot solution, the difficulties just... Ended. I dunno, hope
Wow thanks for all the help guys. It's a big part of the reason I like the game overall xP Anyway, I'll edit in my mod folder to this message when I can. Pretty sure I've done something wrong with MY mod, might not explain why other mods work in neither the Mods or Factions folders. Edit: I tried, I really did. Mediafire is being REALLY finnicky and I have no bloody idea how to make a direct link. Any download or share I TRY to do just
I feel like 9/10 of my posts on this site are for difficulties modding the game, and I'm sure it annoys anyone who's caught onto it, but it just REALLY perplexes me. I don't think my game even ATTEMPTS to go into the 'my games' directory. I had factions under 'Factions', factions under 'Mods', and I've been trying to make my own version of the Ghosts faction based on this guide: ht
Damn, you beat me by HOURS. Had to finish the Quarian ships. Anyway, if I can get the factions working I'm sure I'll enjoy them! EDIT: I think I'm going to try and specialise my mod. The conversion mod is fleshed out but it doesn't make sense as an integration. Yours is very realistic and good, but I'll have to make little tweaks to my own so nobody is outright competing/copying :3
This is actually extremely useful for people wanting to populate large galaxies, especially with so many of them! I suck at modding ANYTHING into the game for some reason (sorting folders and trying to get GC3 to at least TRY to read '/my games' is surprisingly difficult for me specifically) but I did LOOK at them, and all the serious ones are actually pretty fleshed out and usable.
I agree with the multiplayer part... But even the simultaneous turn taking may be a good call since you can start moving ships/shipyards WITHIN your turn. The loading problem I haven't found... I once generated an Insane size map with 10 factions and common minorfactions within about 20 seconds. 8GB RAM with other apps open. Plus I haven't seen a font problem since like January. Buuuut you still raise a few good points. I hope Stardock work on these so more peo
Unfortunetely it is currently EXTREMELY vague how we create ship sets/styles. If you want to build ships with more than one style of part, Gauntlet had the great advice of checking the option of allowing all styles. This is also great for using otherwise hidden parts like Relic sections (some of the awesome campaign ships used these, work really well with most race styles). EDIT: However the AI will use these ships sometimes, and you may end up with a cluttered
Yeah it works perfectly... Pretty awesome Derek responded xP It's weird though, Steam just really jumps at the chance to 'help' the player, even when the settings on the game itself had no Cloud options. Thanks guys! (And probably from the real OP when he gets here)
Strangely the game doesn't seem to have Steam cloud support on save games... I checked everywhere, including the usual Updates tab on the properties.... It's getting really annoying, any file created around the region of late April just keep coming back into the game, even things I deleted for the first time today. It even does it for things in myGames/GalCiv 3... Even if I delete something I want gone with shift-delete they just come back the next time the game opens.
Looks like an awesome race! I'll probably use it like a tutorial to making my own too! :D
It's the one I'm using. The folder part confuses me... How to make a mod itself. Thanks a lot for helping anyway, I'll just have a little play around with where the factions are kept until I get it right, the guide's pretty good so the hard part is out the way.
EDIT: IT FIXED ITSELF. I'D DELETE THE THREAD TO SAVE PEOPLE EFFORT BUT I CAN'T XP I know it's a very vague question, but I really can't wrap my head around what I'm doing... What I am TRYING to do is make some shipsets for my Mass Effect mod (I realise one exists, but I'm trying to focus on visual accuracy and races that fit into the existing game). The thought of making custom shipsets is mindblowingly exciting, but I can't manage to
Sounds awesome! I made a Covenant faction ages ago and sort of left it there... Modding this game is really tough to me, I can't wrap my head around all the folders and files lying all over the place. Good luck man!
I'm finding this too. Saves I haven't used for weeks are suddenly back in the menu every time I open the game again. It's also doing it for custom races, so I have annoying placeholder races all over the list I delete every time I start a game.
First off this isn't a complaint or request. I actually LOVE the new beta, even if it has a few new bugs which isn't Stardock's fault. Hope everyone else is having fun too! Anyway, not sure if this is the right place, or if it's been asked before, but what is the pirate aesthetic when designing a faction? It's at the bottom of the list and the preview ship is identical to Terran. I'm just wondering what it is/does. I
