Hi. What is the point of doing research? Getting more powerful weapons? Faster engines? No. The whole point is economics. It's either to generate more money or lower the cost of a product. Research is a project, and like all projects, you have to take into calculation cost vs benefice to determine if it is worthwhile. However, in this game, the amount of money and time you have to invest to in building the labs, paying the

Hi, I hope that the Stardock team will update (and keep updating) the content of the manual once the game is released and everytime the game is updated. That was a big flaw in Galactic Civilization. Followthrough is important to look professional.
I'm having a problem getting the game running. Until rc 003, everything was fine, but from then, everytime i try to run the political machine, it says my serial number is unvalid. I validated my drengin.net key in stardock central, everything is fine, and it dosn't expire until august 2005. Thank you for your help
Furthermore, i have to say, i hope that the liberals have a minority goverment and make a coalition with the NDP. I dream of a goverment who acts more like socialist europe.
Well, i don't like Martin either, but you have got to admit, he is a lesser evil when you compare him to the so called PCC (Amazing how the Reform succefully managed to disguise himself by changing name twice). They (the PCC) are way too much to the right. But all this to say that it dosn't matter to me, my vote goes to the Bloc.
Oh, one last thing. I liked the PR man (Boost the image during interviews) better then the intimidator.
I think the game is great, here's a list of what i like/dislike/didn't work Things i liked - Getting the extra money at half race. Allows the game to be set up in phases. - The different consultants, they provide the use of several different strategies. - The income of money from HQs: Well balanced. - Campain mode: Great concept Things i didn't like - Political opportunities: My opponent just run for it, and
Bug: When i upgraded my campain headquarter, it actually upgraded my HQ in the state my opponent was in.
Here are a few issues from my games Stamina: Way too powerful. I played with 15 stamina a week, and i could do so much more then my opponent that i got all states twice at normal difficulty. Endorsements: In the previous built, they were way too powerful, but now, they might be slightly underpowered. AI Issue: At one point, my opponent stopped doing anything for 3 weeks. If he was using this time to build political capital, h
Here's another problem i saw a few times. When there's a political opportunity in one of the state, i send my candidate to grab it. However, once i land in the state, i do not grab it, and it remains there. Then after, my opponent would fly in that same state and he does grab it. Maybe the AI considers it has captured it when it was "thinking" his moves, and not actually when he did complete the move. However, it seems a rare problem,
This might be a lead to a problem previously mentionned. It would seem that when i start a new game, having left the first one using "option", it would seem that some of the previous game's data remains. Exemple: The cursor displaying the location of my candidate was not in the state i'm in, but rather in the state i WAS in the previous game. That might also explain why my opponent dosn't move; perhaps the AI considers that all his stamina has been use
Here's another problem i noticed. It occured several times, my opponent actually dissapear from the map for the rest of the game. He still does things, but i just can't see him anymore. However, i can still see his "helpers" (Cheerleaders, Grannies, Definers etc...) Also, i had problems moving my new "helpers". I see them on the clipboard, select them (The clipboard becomes light blue), and right click on the state i want it to
Hi, Here's a list of the problems i encountered. First of all, the game would often crash (not surprising tho, since it is the first beta) AI Took control of my candidate, Completed 1 move, made a second and then the game Crashed. Sometimes the opponent will do nothing or only 1 action during his first turn at normal difficulty. This happens when i restart a game. I had smart-exception running at that tim
I managed to trade an economic starbase for 3 worthless tech + Ranger tech to the yor. Intelligent + huge galaxy ~SDC~
Ok, well after playing for 3 hours, i still can't reach the computer's high income. I really can't figure out why. If anyone has an idea, let me know. ~SDC~
They are counter-intuitive, yes. But that's because the game's economy is a little complex. You have to pay for alot of the extra units you get. Only a set percentage are given free. ~SDC~
Ok, for those who are as math freaks as i am (I'm studying maths to become a teacher :)), here are some formulaes. Research bonus : For those who want to take a technological lead, here's how you calculate how much more research you're doing for your buck. Bonus = 3 * (Bonus + 1)/(Bonus + 3)... So if you're taking Technologists + 50% research, you'll be doing 37% more(1.37) research then what you pay for. Of course, that's far then the +70% would let you believe. Here'
I don't suppose you'd give the formulaes for morale and income, right? ~SDC~
I found out what i was missing. I still need to check and make sure i can reach the computer's income, but here's what i found out. Morale enhancement from buildings have MUCH more impact then morale enhancement from your civilization. That's what i did wrong, i usually didn't build morale enhancing devices, and rellied on my race's morale modifier. Also, during my research, i came across something else. income is not linear. You get a base income from the planet, depending whi
Oh, BTW, i'm already using propaganda. ~SDC~
I love the game, but there's something that i don't get. My style of play in 4x game has always been to be on top in the economic field. That way, i can produce more then everybody. But it's not working too well in GalCiv. I win pretty much every game, and i increase the difficulty level after winning a few at the same level. Right now, all races are Intelligent (Difficulty level 60). According to the FAQ on the galciv website, it should put the AI races at the same ec
