Thanks Brad/Stardock. Aw yeah!

Meh. Whatever. I've never liked espionage in any 4X. The idea of managing individual agents with the scope of the rest of the game is silly to me. In any game like this that lets you disable it, I disable it. Rather focus on other stuff than have to counter weak AIs managing to pillage vastly superior empires (mine) via espioncheese.
I don't recall beta access to xpacs being a part of the elite founder package. So I'm not sure why people think they should get access just because. The entitlement generation is the worst yet.
As a dev myself in a team environment I get enough of bugs, meetings, QA, and support issues such that I really don't need to experience painfully in development game code during my down time. I also have so many games to play, books to read, songs to learn on guitar, and wife to occasionally interact with that I could clone myself and still never have enough time for it all. So I'm fine with waiting for a more stable product even if this xpac looks
This is all good stuff but kinda like I said in the other thread...why has it taken so long for this to happen? If YOU think the game is that far off and in need of help - where was this level of editorial control/oversight months ago? And why can only Brad see these kinds of things in the design/code? Just seems a little odd that there's only one person in the whole company capable of this level of observation... I've been kind of meh about GC
Sounds good, but... Shouldn't this kind of "low hanging fruit" type of optimization have been done during development, like ages ago? I know Frogboy is the man and all but I'd hope they had a few people working on the game that had some clue about writing code and writing reasonably efficient code!
It would be nice if the game "remembered" which view of the tech tree you use and restore that on new gaming sessions. So that when you switch from the "new view" I'd never use unless being paid and even then only reluctantly to the "tree view" that's more like what's supposed to exist in 4X, that it'd save that pref and never show one the other view ever again. Just sayin' Would be nice...
It would be nice if moves were shown on the fleet panel in some way. They're shown when you only have a single ship selected. Space is limited but anything would be better than the complete brutality of having to hover over your fleet constantly to check moves remaining. One possible spot would be where it shows you that the fleet belongs to YOU in the upper right hand corner of the fleet panel. I already know my fleets belong to me, so this info is redundant when it&#
Please put the restart map command into GC3 (that was in GC2 as "ctrl+n"). I found a couple of threads on this that were locked that I couldn't necro, including one where Frogboy said he wanted it too and it was "on the list" and that was back in 2015. As a player you can quit to main menu and do a quick start so it can't be all that hard to automate that in code to cut down on hassle for the player. Give the people
Well, IMO, it would be ideal if Steam forced people to actually play software for some time before leaving any review, good or bad. I'll try it out and see how it feels. The patch notes overall are ok (I'm more interested in changes to the current game - this xpac doesn't interest me at all). [quote who="XWerewolfX" reply="1" id="3620555"] I personally can't recommend it, Brad. I'm sorry. Still respect you and your company, but this j
I didn't even notice there were notifications until I'd played many games and never use them because they're way too spammy with pointless info. IMO it would be ideal if you could filter them to drop it to just critical events, which has been suggested before (the idea of filtering options, that is). Also agree that a clear all button would be nice. The new notification system is an ok idea but it's like it&#
What Zubas said. Scroll to the bottom of your "Available Projects" list and there will be options like "Economic Stimulus", "Cultural Festival" - those will run forever once you pick them. You can get other options via tech that'll boost ship building, research, etc. There are a few things to note about these. If your planet gains new tiles via events/affinity/tech, the planet will still be doing that continuous project, so you n
It would be nice if the game prompted you for WHICH type of constructor is grabbed by the starbase "request constructor" thing...since one may have several flavors of constructors in use. For ex, I often leave the generic one active but more often I use a stripped down variant with multiple cargo pods, since I don't care about speed, sensors, support, etc on "internal" (to my empire) constructors, I just want as much constructor oomph delivered as efficiently as possible. &n
1. When you colonize you have no idea where that planet is unless you have a photographic memory. I'm fond of telling people I have a "pornographic memory" because my memory is so good it's disgusting, but I still can't remember where every planet I've scoped and sent one of my bazillion colonizers to grab. The problem is the event screen takes up the entire screen. I propose that as the event unfolds, the graphic for the event fade awa
It's a little thing, and in general I love Stardock and their games, but often the little things drive me insane with their games, like forever I complained about ESC key behavior in their games and they finally got that right (mostly, still isn't 100% consistent, some windows still don't close via ESC) in GC3. Anyways. I personally don't like the default/new "Research Technologies" view in GC3 and never use it. I always switch to the tech tr
One of the most annoying things to me about GalCiv and many 4X is tech trading. I saw this old post about it https://forums.galciv3.com/449087/page/1/#3407634 but couldn't reply to it, but it sums it up nicely by stating it's one of the most exploitable mechanics in 4X, and that's so true. You can watch people playing older versions of Civ on high difficulties an
Have got thru several turns now without issue.
Noticed a small update hit while I was viewing this, and with that small update I've been able to get thru my idle planets without a crash and finish that turn - will keep playing and hope. If they fixed it that quick then kudos to Stardock (not that I didn't already think you're awesome) and gotta love how fast you can get updates out thru Steam.
Didn't notice that process but that's probably it. Not that big a deal but still slightly annoying when you crash and wanna get right back to it. :P

I don't really agree that starbases should be super strong by default. How exactly does one cheap constructor vomit forth the death star? Star bases should be weak until improved thru many constructors OR if you want them to be mini death stars that need fleets to take them out then you should have to build some kind of fleet sized constructor project to go out and build them over many turns since it's even more silly to think one little constructor that t
I enjoy complex games but complexity for the sake of complexity just adds tedium. Adding even more micro to the planets when you already have all the tile management and juggling seems excessive to me. In my current game my planets have 20b+ pops and if I had to fiddle with them every time they gained a pop I'd go even more insane. I *would* like to see an economic overhaul in this game and was hoping it would be less wonky than GC2 but thus far that has
It would be nice if there was a way in game to speed up the movement/animation of a given ship. I find I spend a lot of time watching ships moving for trivial actions (as I probably spend too much time manually controlling too many ships). I don't necessarily want a global civ-like instant move option. But in some games you can double click to do a fast move, or hold shift to speed up a unit's movement - something like that would be ideal. So w
Not a huge deal, but I don't care for the "new" tech tree layout and always switch to the "old" tech tree style layout, and it would be nice if the game remembered this setting and always kept me in this mode so I didn't have to change it every time I fired up the game. It's hardly the end of the world but I know it's doable and it's the little things, the details, the showing of love for those of us that like the "old" tech tree that warms the heart. Or someth
I've been playing this same game now for several days including last night. Today I see there's a small update to the game, read the notes... Fire up my game. Within moments of going thru a new turn and loading up idle colonies to tweak them the game CTD. Reload, go thru again, CTD on a different idle colony (think it was different, seemed to get a little further but dunno if the order is always the same on a reload). &
