Hmm, I've started a new game with the new DLC and crises enabled in the settings (see my other post), but I haven't seen any of the new crises, types or features mentioned above after a couple of hours playing and a half dozen worlds found. Any ideas as to when these things show up? Are they triggered by reaching a certain empire size or something?

OK, per the title, for the V4.0 New Planetary Crises to appear, do I need the "Crisis" setting enabled in the game? The "Crisis" setting I'm talking about is under Galaxy Settings/Game Settings, to the left of "Mega Events" and under "Game Pacing". Yes, it may be a dumb question[e digicons]:|[/e] , but I just want to be sure I'm understanding that the new Planetary Crises are enabled the same as the previous Crises. Thanks for any replies!
The problem is that the older mod doesn't include the colors for the Drath and Korath, so they are all black. You should probably transfer your changes to the new mod.
Oh crap, yeah, that would make a lot of sense! Thanks for letting me know [e digicons]:inlove:[/e]
The version of the mod you have doesn't work right with Retribution. You can get the correct version here . Just delete the version you have and use the new one.
Weirdly, I used your old mod and tweaked the numbers to make things stand out in more contrast and with the opt-in patch it is working in Retribution. I'll probabl
So I don't think there is any value in smaller hulls... if you have larger hulls, use them. The only reason I employ medium hulls once I have large hulls in the game is because of production times and my desire to get X amount of power to a area in Y amount of time. If I'm given infinite time, I would always field nothing but Huge Hulls and then whatever sizes needed to fill in the last logistic slots. The logistics cap and the i
I've always just obsoleted my tiny hull warships once I get small hulls, but I'm wondering if maybe I'm missing something by doing this. With the tweaks to hit points in Retribution, I'm considering this again. Does the community have some insight on this issue? Even with a hundred hours in the game I still consider myself a neophyte when it comes to the nuances of combat. Thanks for any advice!
OK, this feature may have been asked for before, but if it has, my apologies. I was just wondering if we could have an in-game scratchpad, accessible from all screens, so instead of alt-tabbing or using paper I could keep the notes I make with the game. It could be opened via an icon on the top bar, over next to the date. It would be nice.
OK, I know this has probably been asked before, but I did try a search and nothing specific came up, at least nothing that seemed related. Anyway, so what does gc3_prefs_wipe.exe do? I would try it myself but I have a feeling that it is not intended to be fooled with lightly.
Thanks for the info. I've also printed out the whole Retribution and 3.5 update list. I'm seeing some things that might, or might not, be something that changed in 3.5, or maybe I just never noticed it before[e digicons]:\[/e]
Ah, thanks for the info!
Well, bummer, I just installed the Retribution DLC and gave it a try and now the mod doesn't work. I even put the two files directly into the game folder instead of the mod folder, just to see if the game was just looking at the wrong place, but no help. And I do have mods enabled, and I ran the resync mods option as well. I finally used the Steam client to validate my files, which oddly enough replaced eight of them, and tried again. Still no luck. I'll go over to the modding forum and see i
I played around with your mod settings in the ColorDefs.xml file and tweaked them to make the contrast greater, it works pretty well now, at least for the Yor. Thanks for your comment lines in the code, it made it easier to understand what you had done. Funny story regarding comments... back about, oh, forty years ago , back in the dark ages when I was coding for the Byzantine Empire (actually it was the Space Shuttle program) we were working with a language called GOAL, Groun
I found a StarboxDefs.xml, but can't really figure out what I'm looking for. I did download a mod that alters that file plus another one, I got the info after I posted over on the Modding forum . It's not quite what I'm looking for, but at least the contrast is now better so when I'm zoomed out, which is the way I prefer to play, I can see things a bit better.
That's the right place. Did you enable mods? Try loading an older save where you've exposed a lot of the galaxy. Are you using any other mods?
Wow, what kind of dummy would I be if I added a mod and didn't have mods enabled? Well, it turns out I'm that kind of dummy [e digicons]:\[/e] . I enabled mods and now it works from the mods folder. Thanks again!
Ah, I got it working. I simply put the two files in the appropriate folders in the game folder, rather than the My Games folder. It isn't exactly what I was looking for, or rather what I thought I was looking for, but it turns out to be pretty helpful . Thanks! [e digicons]:star:[/e]
Hmm, I'm not seeing a change. I've installed the mod on the following path, C:\Users\[my name]\Documents\My Games\GC3Crusade\Mods\OS Graphics Fix for Intrigue 3200 which seems to be correct. I tried an existing save game and also a new game. Did I put it in the wrong place?
Hi, I asked this question over on the main forum but I'm thinking that maybe this is something I should ask here instead. Maybe I have missed how to do this, but I've always been struggling a bit in the game to easily see which hexes are visible to one of my ships or other entities. If I zoom in and slide the map around a bit I can see the background of the galaxy move in those spaces visible to me while the others remain black. For instance, in the screenshot I've linked to below
Turn the grid on.
I have the grid on, but the grid shows even if I can't currently see that hex. It seems the grid is displayed wherever I have traveled and looked once, but not necessarily where I am currently able to see. Maybe if I change the background "galaxy" image which I can see through the 2D plane to something lighter and consistent?

I'll be the one that asks the question everyone wants to know... when on the 21st will the game be released?
Bump. New game with 3.2. 130 turns in, 14 AI on a Huge map, turns times already 2mins long and this is on a 2700x with 32gig ddr4 3200 RAM and RX580.
Horemvore, have you seen any improvement with this issue since you last posted? Also, are you running Win10 or Win7? Thanks!
Well, color me embarrassed[e digicons]:|[/e] . I didn't think to check the game folder to see what was the latest version of the manual. Thank you for pointing this out. I keep getting this game confused with Crusader Kings II where the different DLC have different PDF update guides. Ah, the joys of being old!
Frogboy, I've asked this question before but it's been a long time so I'll ask it again in case things have changed (and I don't remember the answer anyway[e digicons]:\[/e] ). If I change the options for the different categories of victory conditions and, for example, remove all but the option for a Conquest victory, will the AI only pursue that option? Or does the AI always assume all victory conditions are valid? Very excited about Retribution!
OK, a couple of, well, three questions... Hypergates. Do I understand that I can simply connect (for example) from my next-to-Earth hypergate to as many other hypergates as I wish? I thought (there's that word) that once you built a hypergate you can only connect it to one other gate, but as many gates as desired can be connected to the one you just built. Sorry if I'm being dense, I just got that impression from an earlier journal. Also, the diploma
Could we possibly get a journal focusing on Tech Tree changes? We've already seen a few, but 'm curious to see more.
I'll second that, I'd love to see what has been done. I've never been a fan of those "click and pick one of three choices". I'd be thrilled if those are going away.
