Thats what I'm hoping to fix, I was half way through a mod to improve minor races to make them a fun aspect of gameplay when Crusade came out and haulted my progress with a brick wall :/

Does anyone have any ideas on a way to return pre-crusade AI to Minor civs? Currently they now act as a pre-space civ which would be nice for a new faction type with perhaps a way to uplift them or collect research though observation or probing, but having the minor civs act like limited Majors gave me loads of possibilities with lore/gameplay. Especially since they were AI only and didn't count towards the overall player count. I loved being able to add all the lesser faction

I know you don't like using dlc much but the Scavenge ability when added to pirates allows them to capture/use constructors/colony ships even if its a low chance and I thought I might mention it since your planning on reworking the pirates a bit ^.^

You know, I was just looking into RAD Video Tools as a possible way to make animated FG and BG xD Experimental or not, its good to know we finally have a way to make these, good work! :)
Check the mega events dlc for how the dread lords are added to the game. You might be able to add a faction through an event thanks to the dlc. I haven't checked into it yet though so no promises. I'll try and remember to update if I find out :)
You would need to give a little more detail, there are several of us working on one mod or another that could cover one or more of these areas xD

I haven't looked into it too much yet but you may be able to create them with this, just bare in mind I'm really only guessing. Well, with my own setup I use 2 screens one running the game and the other with the xml's open to make changes. You could look at everything you have set with the in-game editor on 1 screen and the xml on the other. Of course, but keep in mind it take a lot of time in order to make a well polished faction, especially for those of us working by ourselves rather than with a team. Real life obligations can also increase the time it takes to make a well polished faction. Just be patient, they are on the way :)
