[quote who="Stohrm" reply="17" id="3440388"] I'M beginning to regret buying into the Alpha; as it sounds like this is not going to be the game I was wishing to see come to fruition. I prefer options, but I see that the developers are doing things in a way other than I was hoping (whether I/we like it or not). They already have my money; what do they care what I want (now). A limited tech tree?

Who had a problem with certain tech being alignement-specific?
Exclusive techtree path is brilliant. A strategy game is all about tension between different choices. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
Give Gaunathor some sort of job here with a remuneration, he's an encyclopedia. Maybe a fedora with Stardock embroidered in it.

And I used to blame the humans for what happened to the Xendars. Damn drengin propaganda machine.
Holy shit, Gozer the gozarian originated from Altaria all along!
If the Yor are based on the popular scifi trope of the sentient machine, is there any chance to have a civilization based on the concept of the " horde of alien locust "? A biology-oriented race, massive in number, lovecraftian in nature, etc.? See Alien, Prometheus, the Flood, the Zerg, Starship tropers, etc etc. =]
[quote who="admiralWillyWilber" reply="51" id="3439426"] Quoting OvermindPrime, reply 50 Well, finally the Terran game programmers have realized that it is completely, and morally, ethical to eat the cattle species when they taste good. Also, knowing that exterminating vermin species to make room for the Chosen Race is an ideal to be admired and encouraged, it warms my heart to see the understanding this is not evil. Besides, it is fun! And don't forget, enslaving other
[quote who="qrtxian" reply="39" id="3431834"] Personally, I don't think the Drengin are very realistic; they have more in common with orcs than what I'd consider what aliens would most likely be. But it's just beyond ridiculous to make confident assertions as to what aliens must be like when we have absolutely nothing to base that on. (And as for evolutionary psychology, everything we know about it comes from Earth life. There are a few things likely to be universal constant
I would have preferred a design illustrating how truly alien a synthetic race with a collective mind should be, which Galciv II did quite well, for reasons brought up earlier. But if the intent is simply to denote aggressiveness and efficience, then this works quite well. Its like a fleet of scalpels and razor blades dissecting its way through the galaxy.
