I've been a customer of stardock for a while. I liked Galciv II, despite its flaws, i bought it and all its expansions. I bought fallen enchantress and the legendary heroes expansion too I had really hoped that Galciv III would fix those flaws, and finally make it into the game it deserved to be. You're so close to being king of this genre. I bought this game in beta to support it, and while i was disappointed at things i saw then, i held hope that it would be sorted.

Hii. I'm trying to test the stability of the current version, for playing with my cousin later today. I don't have several hours to gradually work up to things. Is there any way to just give myself all the technologies and infinite credits, or something similar? Or failing that at the very least, can anyone tell me if a drone hive ship is stable ?Ie, a huge ship with 10-20 drone bays on it. Will that crash the game?
Ok, i've solved it at least for now. I pieced it together from two other people who have the same issue https://forums.galciv3.com/464505/page/1/#3544800 https://forums.galciv3.com/464194/page/1/#3544799 The issue seems to be custom ship designs becoming corrupted somehow The sol
i had the same issue. Try deleting your galciv3 folder in My Games
thank you, your post here helped me fix the same issue
heeeeey I've done another clean install. As clean is it can possibly be. I scoured my hard drive for every trace of galactic civilisations or stadock and wiped it all, then refreshed steam settings too as per the guide in the knowledgebase IT IS NOT WORKING The iconians still crash! i don't know what to do. My cousin is coming over to play later today and i have to tell him that the game is broken
Nope, thats not working either. in v 0.95 too, on a fresh install, the iconians are broken. Selecting their ship crashes the game. i don't understand, how can this be possible?
ok that didn't fix it. the game still crashes with the iconians on version 0.90 now updating to the opt-in beta in hopes that'll solve it but i suspect it wont. Something is very wrong here. the iconians cant simply be broken, im sure someone else would notice that?
ive seen a lot of this too. One game we played, every faction in the galaxy declared war on us within 5 turns of meeting, but none of them ever did anything or made the slightest hostile action. And after months of being formally at war without firing a shot, they might agree to peace at my expense.
an imo critical feature before release is this: https://forums.galciv3.com/462930/page/1/#3544062 i cant believe the request constructor was thrown in, in such a useless state.
i agree, pirates should extort, and/or capture ships alive. Destroying things simply isn't profitable, they shouldn't be doing it without good reason.
bump. it would be sad to release without this, especially since the request constructor is one of the trumpeted features on the release announcement page. It's a worthless feature until this issue is sorted.
Before anything like his, constructor requesting needs to be fixed. I's currently useless: https://forums.galciv3.com/462930/page/1 /
What is so hard to understand about this? Ships should stop when they see pirates. No turning off pirates isn't a solution. Much the same way as cutting off your leg is not a solution to a skint knee. It's a very logical feature, and its an area where micromanagement can be saved. You should never allow tedious micromanagement to be more efficient than automation. Manually clicking a ship one tile each turn is not fun, it doesn't require thought or decision
A little history which might be relevant. Before we tried to make the custom faction, we were playing a game as the iconians. We played hundreds of turns and it was pretty stable, eventually we got huge hulls, and designed a flagship It was a drone hive. Just COVERED in tons of drone/fighter bays, at least 10 of them. We were looking forward to seeing it in action, and picked a fight with a little starbase. At that point, the game crashed while loading the battle viewer. We ne
Ok, update, i've narrowed it down. It's not the starmetal The crash is caused by the iconian ship style, and ONLY that. If i use a different ship style, i'm able to use starmetal jus fine. If i use the iconian style withou the starmetal (or any fancy materials at all), it crashes on selecting a ship. This is consistent, repeatable, 100% reproducible. A custom race with Iconian sh
nope. Shiny new video drivers haven't changed. Still crashes when i select any ship with starmetal. i'll mess around with settings and see what i can accomplish. if you have any advice please let mer know ASAP
Is it possible you guys were double clicking on a stationed ship in the ship list (the list of ships on the right side of the screen). That can cause a crash, and we are fixing it now, but we havent been able to repro any case where double clicking a chip on the main map causes a crash.
definitely not the case. The crash happens for me with single clicking a ship in the main map. i will update video dr
@Darkchaser: I do NOT get the crash with a custom race at mostly stock settings, i seems to be specifically the starmetal ship texture which is causing it for me. Any chance you could remember exactly which settings and i could test with those? which race, etc
ok i made a barebones custom race, only edited the ships Iconian ship style Starmetal Texture in both texture slots Literally zero other changes. It crashes on selecting. So my suspicions are confirmed, it's definitely the ships. is this likely to be a problem with my hardware? Here is my DxDiag http://pastebin.com/BDLjbSJU (btw&nbs
i did my best to remake them, i got some things wrong, but at least the traits and ships were right. it still broke how can i PM you the custom faction? where are they located in my drive?
Ok i'm troubleshooting this crash. But also i want to say that after galciv crashes, it frequently gets into a stuck state, and i cannot start it up again. I have to restart steam in order to fix this. which is very frustrating. why is that happening?
come on guys :( i know his report is incomplete, but i dont know how else to help
have starbase maintenance costs increase with distance from the nearest owned planet. make the AI aware of this, and factor it in economically. There should be a certain range at which harvesting resources is prohibitively expensive imo.
Bump. This feature is still missing in 6.1 The request constructor button calls a ship which is loaded down with pointless engines and support. It needs to order the most efficient stripped down constructor. Which at the beginning is just a single constructor module. Later on, as andros describes, it can have multiple construction modules. But there's still no point in having anything BUT construction modules on it. Eith
