How is the Steam integration going? I am really looking forward to the whole sharing mechanism for mods and designs. Is it too early to start begging for more colonization events? I think I have seen them all by now. ;)

I have seen that behavior before with other games and it was the mouse. If you have a wireless mouse, it can also be a sign of a marginal strength battery. Otherwise, it is probably the little wheel switch mechanism gone dirty or worn, and there is there is little you can do about it. Borrow someone else's mouse if you can to test with.

When you run out of improvements you can or want to build, you can select one of the projects. That will remove the "Idle Colony" message. It is not a good use of your production capabilities. Either find a technology that enables upgrade, or research the terraforming techs so you can get more tiles to build on. The govern button discussed above would be the individual govern function for the planet. Once there, you can adjust that planet without
Nice chart! I am beating the AI on Gifted, which amazes me. I tried bumping the Drengin up to Genius and they ran away with the game. The numbers don't look that badly different, but it makes a difference! And now I know why I will never touch God-like. [e digicons]8C[/e] Thanks again for the info!
The whole point is that it isn't about heroes and villains. It's about power struggles. That is one reason why they didn't use "good" and "evil". but "benevolent", "pragmatic", and "mean". Secondly, never trust someone who is truly convinced they are fighting for the good. They will feel that any and all tactics are justified. A sneak knows he is a sneak and might even apologize as he betrays you, but a true hero can strike without hesitation or gui
Feels like it cheats you out of a real fight when the AI just surrenders if it sees itself as too weak to fight a super power.
I don't understand this reaction. If the AI surrenders to another faction, there is a bigger opponent you will face. That's where you might find your real fight. If it is that weak and it is ready to surrender to you, then there is no real f
Cool, we understand one another. Now, the devs get to decide what will happen.
Same here. I thought it was because I was using a race designed in 1.0. So I redesigned it and am trying again.
The thing that would most work for me is repair modules.
Downloaded the reduced nebula. Just what I was looking for, just when I decided the background was too bright for my custom race colors to show properly. Very nice. Thanks!
Extended range fo starbases is not a requirement for playing the game. The starbases at basic range work just fine for me at my play level. It seems easy to go with that spacing and make the best of it. It occurs to me that learning about extended range is one of the advanced techniques a new user will learn eventually, not one that is needed on game one. I do not understand why experienced players like yourself make the assumptions they do about new players.&nbs
I have to agree. The emigration center doesn't fit the pattern of of the other one per planet buildings. It feels more like a typo than a design decision. I don't see anything about influence that should make it different than how research, wealth, and manufacturing work. My trial and error work (instead of math) shows me that an emigration center has to touch four cultural centers before it starts paying off in bonuses. That is too rare a circumstance.</
The real answer is put the starbase in the right place the first time or take the hit. Yes, that won't always be possible or easy or whatever. It isn't supposed to be. It is a simple reward/penalty system that raises a series of inconvenient decisions and challenges. For me, this is a very good thing. Seriously,it is not that there is no problem to fix here, as far as I see, it is taking out some of the challenge and interaction with the map. As far
I am using the planet wheel in an empire with >100 planets. I take each planet through three stages, beginning, mid-development, and possible specialization. I set up the beginning with max production and a short build list. When the planet gets back to me, I look more closely at its terrain and decide what should go where. The planet wheel gets set to follow the imperial wheel. It will stay there until late game when I will extreme specialize a several key wo

You are talking about additions to the main engine that sound like they would be used by an extremely small minority, m

I like it. We get some interesting facts and the first thing that happens is everyone denies it is true because it doesn't describe them. Then you get a list of how it each of us is different. No one seems to want to admit that we here on the forums are not the norm. Personally, I am proud of it. But I also know not to ignore all those people who are starting on beginner and staying there. Some of the people on this thread seem to be denying that could
My fastest game is tag. The other kids always catch me immediately. As for GalCiv, I'm still working on my first complete game. I had a lot of crashes and I restarted for each beta release. Now I am trying push forward towards an Ascension victory. I am at 175 turns. For a lark, when I had to leave for a while yesterday, I saved my game and then put it on soak. When I came back, my AI player had won in 250 turns. So I guess that is the goa
Hover over the fleet and the pop up tooltip will tell you.
If you have Steam Cloud enabled, disable that first. Then you can do the delete local data.

Troll or not, it is actually a valid point. The Stardock supplied art is of a quality that it should be possible for the artists to suggest a bit of gender besides Altairian and Humans. It's very good art and I admire the skill and variety, but it does come off as a bit of a boy's club. Obviously, it is not necessarily relevant for all factions, but for the human players involved, it sometimes makes a difference. Hopefully there is more than just Jenna in the f
As you say yourself, obviously you are doing something wrong. Comparing gameplay to human history is where you start. Assuming you can ignore game mechanics without consequences because of your philosophical preferences is another obvious mistake. I know because I share some of those philosophical preferences. You will need some minimum military. You work towards finding a minimum. If you have pirates turned off, I suggest you turn them on. Having enough
I think the point of the request from Stardock was never to prevent anyone from being honest in a review. The point is they know a lot of us who absolutely love the game are typical lazy forgetful procrastinating gamer geeks who would gladly put down their controllers and put up a positive review if someone just nudged them a little. Nudge, nudge. ;)
