I think there is room for what you are asking for, but it should be separate from the UP. The UP is analogous to the UN, what you are asking for is analogous to NATO. They are very different organizations that do very different things.
Perhaps you're right, though that's up to the developers to decide. I just hate the fact that the U.P. you're automatically thrown in, this way you not only h
What I'd like to see is the a system where declaring war gives a negative diplomatic modifier to every race combined with some mechanic to let several races declare war on someone at once and have the AI take into account the combined strength of the group when deciding if it's a good idea or not. Ideally I'd also like a bunch of "casus belli" to mitigate the negative modifier or possibly if enough stack eliminate the hit o

I've never seen the problem with "turtling." The people who hate it in my opinion are just people who like to roflstomp with OP military, and hate it when something throws a wrench in their gears. Nothing more, nothing less. If you're "turtling", and slowing down a more powerful enemy, you're doing something right. I don't see why game developers have to give the winning side even more roflstomping power to hasten the loss. It's completely backwards

I was watching Star Trek DS9 today, started downloading all the seasons since I was bored, wanted something to watch while I played Galciv III. What better thing than Star Trek DS9? It then occurred me, how similar the Federation and U.P. is, and made me a bit sad, that the U.P. is so simplistic, and watered down compared to what it could be. With the focus of Ideology, helping to make friends, and or enemies, I believe the U.P. could make use of this, but before I get i

Reading through the steam pinned thread "Your wish for Galciv III" Apart from a ton of great idea's being brought up, one big thing was the power difference between Drengin and other factions. They simply have far to much production and warring ability. Let copy paste my response to this, and I'll go into even more detail. <span style="color: #ffffff; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 13p
I'm sorry this is an issue for you, but you know they have a lot of other things on their to do list besides your problem. Things take time, time costs money, and they have to prioritize. If they committed to doing it I'm sure it's on the to do list as they continue to work through all the (many many many) outstanding issues. Asking for an update on when this will get implemented would have been more constructive than all the dramat

Glorious, love it. Did everything I could to get the attention of the devs on this one, as not just me but several other ppl have the same issue, for various reasons. I myself use a laptop with no mmb functionality, and I am often in cramped spaces on the road, etc, so don't get to use a mouse. on 2 seperate streams I asked the question if MMB could be added, and twice the devs responded with that they'll look into it... look into it...Second time they said that
Actually all weapons shoot equally well in all direction so ships don't have much incentive to do pretty much any turns even if they do. I otherwise agree that ship battles leave something to be developed in the future. There should be a bigger distinction between ship sizes, classes of ships and how ships behave during ship battles. It would also be interesting if ship formations

I haven't been able to keep up on the updates or what they plan on still adding, or working on, but besides the fact you can only use the MMB to rotate ships which is totally killing my ability to do the one thing I love most about in Galciv, there has been another thing that seems the most unpolished to me. That is the ship battles themselves. The ships remind me of a bunch of drunk kids on an ice ring with their shoes on.. just sliding every which way, and t
The thing that bugs me is the constant whining by the AI about borders. We all know the AI pays no attention to borders, yet they harp at you about them, even when there is an open borders treaty. It also pisses me off that they can demand removal of a star base, and I can't make the same demand of them
It's not like you can do much about it either right? "like omg! you're borders a

For about 80 turns now I'm getting spams by the same 3 minor factions for the same 2 requests. And a comment Every other turn at least, if not every single turn. "We like your Ideology" is spammed by at least 1 minor race every single turn. (Do I really need to know that they still like my Ideology every turn?) "Give us money" requests happens at least every 2-3 turns by the same 2-3 minor factions, and I have given them at least 5,000 credits so far in the last 80 turns,

People with insufficent computers would spend more upgrading the memory.
That's not really the point. The point is some laptops have no ability, or other mouses depending on make or model. I've never had a middle mouse button on my laptop. So I've never been able to use the ship designer since there is no way to rotate anything. I find it odd and amusing that there is an input to rotate a gizmo (something there are buttons for), but not the ship itself which is vastly more important and no additional buttons to do. Since it was beta though I knocked it off as an oversight and something that needs to be fixed. (Can't have people buying the game and realizing
There are two solutions to this; 1) taking all race name references out of tech names and improvement names. 2) Tokenise them with tags such as [RaceName] . I think the later is better because it creates the possibility for richer description. Of course it's only an issue for in game custom races, modders can just change the name themselves in the XML. Am I? I think limiting the specialty or focus etc. is a good thing. It makes you need to pick and choose and strategize much more than "max everything yolo". It also makes the AI focus and choose too right? Essentially naturally upping their randomness as well.

I think it would be pretty neat to be able to import/export races and ship designs to Steam Workshop... :3 The ability to populate your game with other players designs in both respects would really make the game quite fun and interesting.

With the word "Yor" in all of the buildings, such as "Yor Manufacture" etc. etc. and "Yor Research" in the actual building names and research tree, it makes that particular tech tree very unfriendly towards creating custom races. For example. I have made a race that is a synergy of energy and souls. Basically a lost race that lives on through being energy, therefore they are "synthetic" and don't use food. So I used the Yor tech tree which favors that the most. However, al

That's great to hear. There really should be someway that allows a person to continue enjoying the game fully, a mechanic like rotating your ship is detrimental to being able to enjoy the designer, and probably shouldn't be stuck to a button which everyone may not have, or be able to use. Using Shift, or even both mouse buttons together at the same time would be a better option and something anyone can do.

5 Replies 24,874 Views

My current issue with the ship builder is that to even rotate your ship you HAVE to have a middle mouse button or half the fun of this game is out the window. You literally cannot alter any input commands except gizmo's in the Input, to rotate your ship which is crucial to even building one, you MUST use the middle mouse button.. Well the problem is my middle mouse button doesn't work 100% of the time or very well, and the only other one I have doesn't even

They also mentioned that putting your stars and/or habitable planets to 'uncommon' and suddenly you cannot reach ANY stars at first, you would need to rush life support techs to get your colonies rolling. Personally I am really looking forward to this as it, (to me) is what exploration really should feel like.
&n
