So, the only real advantage is the load times? I guess I am glad I did not get a bigger SSD. Load times do not bother me, the actual gameplay is what I want to be better. Thanks for the info.

I just purchased a new laptop that has a 180g SSD hard drive and a standard 1tb SATA drive. Is there a real difference playing this game on the SSD? Curious if you techies can let me know. I am going from a laptop with an i7 5500 quad core, 12g ram and on board 5500 video to an i7700 quad core, 32g ram and a GTX1060 with 6g of mem... I am hoping the game will scream on the new rig.
Holy cow!!! The game turns are blindingly faster! So far, so good!
If you go to Global defs you can change the default pop for colony ships. I change mine to 1.... .5 2.5 1.0

I am hoping some of you computer gurus on here can give me a little feedback. I currently have am running an i7 5500 with 12g of ram and an integrated HD graphics 5500 card. I can play on gigantic maps with 20 AI racds but after turn 100+ the lag is quite noticeable. Also, I have graphics for game set to low. I just ordered a new laptop with the following specs, a 4K screen resolution and... <small
I have a slight problem which I hope a few people here may help me with. I creeate a lot of races and am now on to Star Wars races and have quite a few now but I need logos.... I have the general ones, i.e. Republic, Empire, Sith etc... I am hoping someone may be able to make believable logos for different factions I have created. Quarren, Rodian, Cathar, Sullustan, Miraluka...???? Anyone up for it?
So, I have never played any scenarios until last night and am wondering... Am I assuming correctly that you cannot use mods in the scenarios?

I started my first game with the mod and the colors seem off. The asteroids are white along with most other things.... What did I miss? Also, three of my own factions now come up as "unable to validate" ... "unknown appearance" when the game loads???
Can someone please tell me how I can get into the debug console for the game?
Since 1.5 my graphics settings always reset to Low. I have edited them to custom for a higher setting but every time I set them in main menu they reset to Low. I get the standard message that I need to restart game to hav ethem take effect but when I exit and restart game they are back to Low???? Any ideas?

Any Idea's what could be the issue?
I have the same issues. I also made sure that the folders are in their correct spots??? Any ideas?
Is the only way to build ships of varying sizes you have to have advanced in a game far enough to actually design them? How come there is a Ship Designer button on the main screen so one could design all they like without having to play the game most of the way through to get to huge and such... What am I missing?
Thank you!
There is a mod that allowed all starbases to mine. With the advent of 1.6 the mod has not been working. Wonder how to "work around" or make this mod work again. Any ideas?
My first two attempts crashed on that screen as well. I then turned mods off and a game started just fine. We must have a mod that is now out of date to the program....
Interesting. How do you bring up the console?
Why can't we access the ship designer from the main menu? Unless I have seriously missed something. It would be nice to be able to just design any hulls/ships without having to be in game.

1. If you hold down the button wheel and then move your mouse you can rotate the ships. 2. I believe it is because mass drivers fire a lot faster than missile systems. He got off more shots than you.... and depleted your armor faster than your missiles took out his.. 3. Combat assignment is in the ship editor when you save ship designs... as in making the escort, capitol, interceptor... etc...
We do still need the ability to rename things in-game, while in the middle of our play. Specifically, the ability to rename: Star names Colony names Shipyards Starbases Ships </u
I would love to be able to add race logos to ships. It would be a nice little touch to fleets.
Darnit all! Now I have to make more!
