No matter what happens; looking at tech, building mining base, talking to other empires, the game just freezes and the screen goes black while the cursor is visible and the music starts playing again. Some narrative for third age, or fourth, content would be nice, sortof like the "Last Big War" from MoO 2. By then, you're already further along with your victory goals where there's no challenge left against the balkanized galaxy with your superior empire.
The survey ship on auto survey is acting a bit odd. While its cool that it doesn't know where they are anymore, it seems to be skipping survey sites it sees to auto explore elsewhere and any site it reaches doesn't give a report on the bonuses it receives. I'm updated to Crusades 2.5 from GOG.

Building a bunch of junk ships each turn prevented the AI from invading since each ship must be attacked separately without the orbital command improvement is why this rule is in effect.
