Is the license you buy here on Stardock.com downloaded on Steam or on Stardock? I like Steam's auto-update feature. Thanks for your reply in advance.
If you buy it from the Stardock store you get a Steam key. I took a look and all the games list that they require Steam to install.
I just bought it with the 50% sale, and I got a Steam key!!! (Thanks for the question post, I had wondered the same thing, this thread gave me the courage to buy.)
Now to start some betaing 
I'm planning to take the 50% deal this week too - so I understand getting from Stardock is basically leading to a Steam-based installation? Or separate? Just wondering about future updates patches, addons or so, whether everything is identical...
We're pushing game code through Steam, so you're games, DLC, patches, etc. will be coming through there.
